We fear she will hit by an automobile or injured bu another animal. Any Ideas?
seriously now...dont you think you should have some clues as to what to do about this? if you truly had fears for her safety and loved her...you would be doing everything you could think of to avoid this situation in the first place as you already know exactly what she will do when the door opens. if you dont have desire and motive it takes to train her, then put up a fence.

Your dog runs down the street probably because it thinks it's allowd to. Maybe try training it in a fenced area. Or in an unfenced area with a leash. Or, maybe you could build a fence around your yard and just let her out there. Cross breeds are easier to train if you have a toy they like, a treat, or if they really like you. Never yell at your dog. Maybe that's why it runs down the street. Because it's scared of all the noise going on.

Train her or train the people in your home to be very careful when opening the door. My dog has been trained to not go out of the front door, it can be done. Better safe than sorry.

She will get hit by a car or injured by another animal. She does this cause you allow it, you haven't taught her not to bolt out the door. You don't have a fenced yard, so you cannot allow her to bolt out the door.

I have one that does the same thing. I'm getting a baby gate for that door. I think the plastic one will withstand the outside weather until he learns no. I can just step over it.

You could try training her - that might help. Sounds like she hasn't had any formal training so she does what she wants. You're probably right in saying that she could get hit - it's likely to happen too if you don't train her right. Good luck.

dont open the door, my dog is 9 and she does it, my dog when i was little he was a lab and he did it, if ur dog is not trained to not run then it will run, its simple, the dog i have now is a shiba inu, and they cant be trained to not run, its just them, go read about ur breed like i did, i learned that it is almost impossible to trian a shiba to not run, its their prey drive, they chase anytthing, squirrels, cars, rabbits
