I know someone who worked for the recycling company and he says that if you do not clean out bottles, plastic containers, metal containers etc they just throw them back in the normal rubbish. So i would say please do clean them out a bit.
Would be good to hear a response on this one from the company themselves!

Most recycling plants will rinse the bottles & cans out when they receive them, but it is good practice to rinse them out before you place them into the bin - bugs, mice, & other vermin may be attracted to the smells & spills that unwashed bottles/cans have.

I don't think its a requirement, but I do it so my recyclable bin doesn't get stinky from beer, soda and whatever else dripping into it from the open containers that I am putting in there.

The lady who unclogs those bottle machines at Kroger yelled at me once for not cleaning out my empty bottles! Let's just say I'll never make that mistake again!!!

It's a good idea if you don't want vermin.
