I am asking because my beliefs of what an Atheist was isn't what I've seen here.
I thought that atheists didn't have a religious life - they didn't "not believe" in religion, they weren't religious. People like this, I wouldn't believe, wouldn't be trying to push and persuade anyone to not be religious.
But, I've seen here that many atheists seem to be anti-religious instead of not religious. They also try to prove their beliefs to others when I would think an atheist (who doesn't worry about religion) wouldn't give two cents...
So.... are real Atheists no religion or anti religion?

"We'd just like to see people either grow up, or keep their childish cult doctrine to themselves" - this is just the thing I'm talking about - what makes your beliefs so much more right than those that are religious??

Religion is dangerous.
Just ask the survivors of the three planes hijacked on 9/11.
Oh, wait,... there ARE none!
Fundamentalism sucks,... no matter which fantasy or myth you're particular to.

You seem to think that all atheists are identical to each other; not so.
Atheism simply means that we don't believe in god or gods.
Here in the states, a faction of religious people are trying to take over and impose their views on everyone else. That makes us very cranky, as it's a fundemental idea of the US that the government should NOT ever shove any religion down the thoats of citizens.
In school, it would be nice if students were allowed to learn science.
The law should NOT be based on the supposed wishes of an imaginary being.
Atheists are also often hassled by the religious, who keep haranguing us to try to convert us. For me, that got old decades ago.
And each one seems to think they're the first person to say the same things I've heard millions of times before. (I've seen the same phenomenon here.)
Then there are atheists who were emotionally abused as children by those who promoted religion -- terrorising them with threats of unimaginal torment forever, making them feel guilty for all sorts of things that are perfectly OK.
Such people often become bitter when they realize there's no god.
Religion can harm.
Good people dislike things that cause harm.
Reason is good. Truth is good. Reality is good.
Thus, I argue against irrationality, falsity, and fantasy.
I don't go out of my way to do so, but I do respond to questions here.
After all, people ask, they should expect answers.

Atheists don't believe in God, but that is the only thing common to them.
Some atheists don't give a stuff about religion and take a "live and let live" attitude.
Other atheists realise that if religion should ever regain political power, the world would very quickly enter into another Dark Age with plenty of witch-burning, Crusades, and Inquistions. Not surprisingly, they tend to be a little bit "anti religion."

There is no enemy to the omnipotent power except the enemy created in the mind via an argument. YOU know that nobody comes into YOUR home and tells to to stop praying in the name of the Law. Churches are everywhere. By saying the words ... "That will not be tolerated" ... it implies that you are the boss and make the rules. The point is darling that other people get angry because they have been abused by church folks and honestly, how do you think it would feel if you were the one who had nightmares about demons or burning in hell or sadly, the memory of being sexually abused by someone as they ranted the word of God? Do you think that you might cry? Do you think that they just don't want to hear the words smashing over there poor little souls? If you can understand child abuse at all, then you can see how it is painful and agonizing for victims to be expected to respectfully listen to the same words that were spoken to them as they were being hurt. It cannot be too hard for you to understand this fact? Okay ... So you go to a park and sit on a seat and a stranger walks up to you and they are drunk and before you realize that they are even behind you, their head comes straight into your face and they kiss you with a sloppy stinky drunken kiss. You jump up. They mumble something about how much you want them and try to grab you by the arm as you are running off. Are you going to go back to that park next weekend and sit on that seat? Why not?

I think you're wrong, and stupid.
Did that make you want to tell me that you're not, and maybe prove it?
Could that be what atheists are doing? It's counter propaganda ;) Someone says something untrue, we correct them. You might notice that almost never does an atheist talk to a single person with the intent of conversion.
Usually it's not at all about the person, or their beliefs, just the facts they state. I think you'll notice that it's the theists (usually christians) that tend to not look at the facts, and jump straight to quoting the bible and preaching hellfire.
How's that?

I am not on either side, but I will answer from an Atheist's view. God is a concept which we choose not to accept.
Science proves everything we need.
Now: I speak from my religious view. The Bible is a conundrum. People think it's easier to ignore it than to solve it. I will solve it, or someone will take my place. Yes, atheists wish to end religion.

Atheists are actually anti-God. They are pro religion because their belief is just that- a belief. They have ABSOLUTELY NO fact to base any of their ideas on. Thus, their beliefs are based on faith, and faith is the essence of a religion.
Atheists are religious!!!

We'd just like to see people either grow up, or keep their childish cult doctrine to themselves. The backlash you are witnessing are in response to religious cult members trying to influence politics and science, two arenas they have no business interferring in.

LaVeyen satanism, humanism, and buddhism are examples of nonsecular atheistic religions. There are two different kinds of atheists, weak and strong. The weak state they dont believe in god. The strong enforce it. The strong are usually anti-theist, in the same way the fundies are against most non-christian religions.

Atheists have no belief in gods. That's it. For the most part atheists are tolerant, easy going, live and let live people unless others try to impose their religion on them or on the laws or in the schools. Then you will see atheists with teeth.
You keep your religion to yourself and I'll keep my atheism to myself but the moment you try to impose any religion on me expect me to fight.
