It's expensive when we are then responsible to pay for the trash or recycling of the wasted paper.
Not only that, but it's time consuming to go through it all, including shredding of any personal information that can't just be tossed.

One tip that I got and have fun doing is this:
Whenever I get those postage paid envelopes with offers, I fill the envelope with cut up ads, etc., and mail them away! So they pay for their own junk mail (or a surprise from another junk mailer).
And even if my own credit card company sent me ads with my bill, I just nicely throw that back in with my payment.

Most junk mail is recyclable. so please DON'T toss it in the trash. You shouldn't toss credit card offers, as has been mentioned...you should shred them. Otherwise, take full advantage of curbside recycling, if you have it, or look for the bins in school parking lots etc that earn money for the schools.

And by all means, if you're getting catalogs from companies that don't interest you, let them know to take you off the list! They pay money for those things, too.

Yup. You have a good point there. We can't really put a label on what mail is junk and what isn't, because all the people that send that mail don't think it's junk. So it's going to keep coming. And we'll just keep throwing it away.

i have a small po box and it is full after 2 days.
90% junk mail.
if the post office people can not put any more mail in the box they return it or loose it or file it away till they GET AROUND to putting it in the box.

i never throw away junk mail i roll it tight pour crankcase oil on it and burn it in the winter.
