I think y'all pretty much covered it before I got here. From some of the pitiful spelling I have seen on YA, I am still undecided on your second point.

tetsuno1, "check spelling" is above the right-hand corner of the box where you type your answer. It is there for edits, too.

Hmm...

I know I've seen "athiest" and "athesist." And, of course, the ever popular Athiest (as a plural).

Actually, I hope it's done just to be annoying, because it would bother me if that many people had trouble using a spell check.

Aetehits - I think s/he slammed the keyboard instead of actually attempting to type. But from the bizarre, and semi-coherent context of the rest of the question, it seemed to be directed towards atheists.

But I could be mistaken. I've seen bunches though. I do attempt to answer the question honestly, because it seems that even though they can't type, they might be able to read. Who knows, I might help raise their IQ score :D

When I am in a mood I will call them Athiests or Athiestists. I get surprisingly more hateful comments when I do that. When I spell atheist normal my question doesn't get much attention.

There's the way atheists spell it, and then there's the way church folks spell it.

But I wouldn't take it personal; church folks have their own spellings on a great many words.

It's part of their religion, and I don't begrudge them that.

I've seen 7 I think, if you count atheist's (used as a plural)

EDIT

Could someone tell ME where the spell check thing is?

My favorite (and yes, I am being sarcastic) comes from the poster known as "Francine." According to her, "atheist" is spelled "gay." How's that for Christian charity?
