Hello,
Total time Jane and Mike will take is 8 + 12 = 20;
When they work together they will take::
Total time divided by total number of people.
i.e. 20 / 2 = 10
Jane & Mike will take 10 minutes to wash the car.

one would assume it is the average of the two times, however if jane can do it in 8 minutes alone, it MUST be faster than 8 minutes with a 2nd person. so, with the time usage formula i=4.32 * x/y*3.89 however one must figure in the wet t-shirt that Jane has on and mike's erection... so it would take 47 minutes give or take 30 minutes...
x=5.72 minutes

4.8 minutes
To show you how this works:
Let X= the time it takes to wash the car together
Jane can wash 1/8th of the car in one minute
Mike can wash 1/12th of the car in one minute
Together 1/8+1/12=5/24th of the car in one minute
so (5/24)X=1
5X=25
X= 24/5
X=4.8 or 4minutes and 48 seconds
