a reliable US citizen to work for your minimum wage salary. The Americans don't show, complain, work poorly etc.
Then in exasperation, you hire an illegal who works for the low wage, takes the abuse of the job, in essence does the work and makes you money.
What is right here? Stop being in biz cuz you can't get good legal help or break the law and line your own pockets?
I know quite a few small biz owners who have faced this and turned to hiring illegals. (I don't agree with it but I understand it.) What is a biz to do in this dilemma?

I do not do this myself. I do know others that do. They have been in biz themselves for years. About 10 years ago, American's seemed to stop wanting to work. Look at the kids around you. Many want to watch TV, play vid games and have Mom and Dad give em' what they want/need. Wonder how that kid is going to work?

Yes, the correct answer is to go through the ad, deal with the Gov. reguations and get you out of country help if you have to.
All good, sincere answers. Thank you.

Do it legitimately. Run an ad for help, document that your ad ran in local newspapers, if no proper help is found obtain a labour certification from the state government and petition for foreign help. Don't use the excuse that you HAVE to hire illegal immigrants. If you can afford to pay them at a lower wage, then take the extra money you're saving and hire them legally. Look into H-2B or H-1B (I'm not sure what your line of work is to say which status). *Edit: They, not you are contributing to the problem.

I WOULD NEVER HIRE AN ILLEGAL ALIEN!

Anyone that says that the only way to be cost effective is to hire an illegal is making excuses! They are a big liar!

If you go to small towns, you have teenagers working in the McDonald's, not Pedro from TJ, Mexico! Kids are mowing the laws, not Juan from Peru.

BTW, I run a small business!

Mentally challenged folks need jobs. Ever think of that? Folks with learning disabilities could fill these jobs. These illegals aren't any brighter than mentally retarded folks. Both groups would be gliding at a basic skill level that probably would not improve over time. Mentally challenged Americans want to do better but cannot, and lazy illegals have no intention of upgrading their minds; learning proper English, or improving their skill levels. At least the retarded Americans can speak English. If there are still employment gaps left by mass deportation of illegals, we could train chimpanzees to take up the slack. AMERICAN chimpanzees.

*******************************************
I am serious about mentally challenged folks filling some of these positions. I suggest that high school kids take up these positions for the most part. That is what the status quo was before the illegals subsumed this employment sector. These jobs were filled by 15 to 17 year olds looking to make some pocket change while in school. I am sure they will be glad to get a fair shot at this market once more. And, they will be paid more since there won't be any desperate illegals around driving down wage rates.

They could choose to obey the law, and pay a higher wage or offer better benefits to get the caliber employee they need. Of course, they might need to charge more for their product or service. And their customers, who like to complain about illegal immigrants, might go to a different company with cheaper prices.

Americans seem to want it both ways. They seek the lowest price over anything else and then complain when the market has to hire illegals in order to give them what they want.

I get your point.. My boss hires non-english speaking people to work the kitchen at low wages and hires cashiers usually bi-lingual speaking at much higher pay.. I cannot speak anything but english and I only make a little more than the others even though I have been in the business twenty yrs..

Its sad that nobody want to work. Maybe start a new business like an arcade so they can have fun. An exotic dance place, would not have problems hiring lonely guys. Take care.

The money these employers are lining their pockets with is coming out of the pockets of the same people they wont pay a livable wage to.They need to close their bus.and go to work for the wages they want to pay us.I dont believe that American workers are generally as useless as you would like us to believe.

You are transferring your burden onto society. If you cannot run a business with out breaking the law maybe you should re-think your business strategy or go to work for a person that you can learn business ethics from. Cheating to win isn't really winning, it is only cheating. If you are going to be successful as a business owner have that success come from good old American ingenuity.

If you have to break the law to remain in business, then you're not a very good businessman and deserve to go broke.

If you're getting rich off of illegal acts, that makes you a criminal, no matter how much you try to doll it up and make it look pretty.

If the employer can't pay a decent wage then they don't need to be in business. Employ family or do the work yourself. Breaking the law is not an option.
