I've been going out with this guy for like nine months now. I told him that I wanted to give myself to him after my senior prom, which is in May and would make our time together a year and two months. We both discussed it, and we're both alright with that date. He says he wants to make sure I'm perfectly ready for it. My problem is, I'm beginning to fear it, because my friends who have already had sex tell me it's really painful. Usually I'm very tolerant of pain; Tampons don't hurt me at all and such, but I'm really starting to be afraid it.

Am I making too big a deal of this? Does it really hurt that bad? And what can I do to ease my mind?

First of all, I really wish you would re-think your decision. Once you and your bf graduate, chances are you will go your separate way.

Second, it should not be painful if your partner knows what he's doing, which is precisely my point, at that age, they don't at all. I won't get into specifics here, but safe to say most guys think they know what they are doing and really don't have a clue (and I mean that at just about any age).

Be wise, change your mind, it's your body and you can do that.

I'm afraid also, but what my motive is, is that it's going to hurt for the first..Oh IDK let's say 5 mins. But thats the only time it's going to hurt. After that you will be fine. So for your first time just close your eyes don't tense up and if you have to cry about the pain (its normal)
but just don't even think about it as much.

Just use some lube, that'll make it alot easier, but may not take all the pain away.

Talk to your bf, and tell him you are having second thoughts.

If he does love you, He'll understand.

I think you should wait untill you're married, though.
