People haven't invented any gods, they have only invented religions. The religions aren't worthy of worship.
As to the existence of a God or Goddess (or gods and goddesses), that is a very strong probability. There are 100 billion stars in our galaxy, another 100 billion or so galaxies, and there may be many other universes. I doubt that we humans are the greatest self aware intelligence in the cosmos. The odds against it are staggering. I have no problem accepting that there is something far greater than us.
Do I have a good reason to believe that any religion I know of knows more about it than most intelligent and educated people do? Not Yet!

These questions are so lame, really. Do you think that the entire religious world bases their beliefs on fantasy? That a group of men got together and decided to play the biggest hoax in the history of the world? By writing book after book about a person that never really lived? That the entire world now uses a calender based on his life. That now 2.1 billion people are total idiots?
But the best question is: Why would a person like Jesus set out to fool the world? Why would he claim to be the Son of God? When he knew it would cost him severe punishment and death. What do you think the point of that would be?
A Creator is the only logical answer. The odds of life simply happening are about 100 billion to one. For men, today, to think they are the most intelligent creature that ever lived is the biggest joke I ever heard and ever will hear. Jesus was not invented he was the the inventor and many men today think are smarter then the inventor himself. And they are not and never will be.
The greatest invention that man has invented so far is the Atomic Bomb. And now nuclear weapons. Enough to destroy the earth a thousand times over. So much for man being intelligent.

I think most of the gods that have been invented my man represent the actions and gifts (god of the sun, god of money, god of luck, god of rain, etc) of one true God. The rules may vary, but the rules are of man. We've intrepreted lighting as a lot of things until we were able to better understand it through the years. Now we've come a lot closer to the Truth than 5000 years ago. We knew there was lightneing back then, but we just coudn't comprehend like we can now.
Every culture has god(s), that either means we are hard-wired as instinct (and no other animal in the animal kingdom comes together to worship as humans so instinct is not likely) or we make god(s) up becase our subconcience or higher self knows that something much bigger than us exists and shows us in different ways.
As a species we've come to understand the One True God much better. Jews, Muslims and Christians recognize the same God. We have different names, but He/She/It is the same. That represents what...4.5-5 billion people world wide? I'd say the majority of us have narrowed it down.
Peace & Love

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is real and worthy of our worship. He gives us an after life of beer and strippers and all the pasta you can eat. He demands nothing, but wants us to be nice to one another. RAmen.

There is no god made by man that is worthy of worship because man is imperfect, so any god created by man would be imperfect and wouldn't benefit us. Only a perfect God is worthy of worship and that's the one who created the universe.

Well it shows you've already made up your mind. You said man invented. No none of the gods man has invented are worth worshiping. On the other hand, the One who invented man is hella worth worshiping.

No. Respect, more than likely. Worship? I would think any true God would be disgusted at the thought of worship by lesser beings.

Mother Earth*
By worship, I do not mean turn her into a conscious, anthropomorphic or omniscient being, but rather to revere, protect, preserve, respect, honor and be grateful, 'cause where (Z asked, rhetorically) would we be without her?
*does she even count in this, since "man" didn't invent her? (nor did woman)
Namaste,
-Z

Honestly, anything that is worshipped outside of yourself, gives that entity power.
Anyone or anything that SCARES you into worshipping it, is not worth of worship either, because that entity is evil.
I believe in a God, but the God of the Bible and the Koran, is written about in very scary ways. Good is not scary. Evil is scary, and oftentimes Humanity is scary. So since humanity probably wrote the bibles and scriptures (even if influenced by God) they probably have lots of it wrong, and cannot be trusted.
So therefore at the end of the day, worship yourself. That's not satanic. Satan would want to destroy you. If you worship and empower yourself, how's that doing anything remotely to what Satan wants anyways? It's not.
Knowledge = power, so just empower and worship yourself.
If you're an idealist and want to aspire to something higher than humanity or yourself, which is totally understandible, then by all means, go to Barnes and Noble, do some research and find something which you can learn to admire.
I personally haven't found anything worthy of that, or will I give it any of my own power.
You only have so much of your own power/energy, so it's not wise to just give it away like that.
And believe me, this society has groups which would like nothing more than to gain power for themselves, make you think a certain way and influence you.
Businesses, media, propaganda, politics, relationships, so many of human groups and their interactions revolve around influences, and some of it goes as strong as brainwashing.
Do not buy into ANYTHING that makes you doubt, fear, hate, loathe or question.
Let me put it this way, I used to admire Christianity/Catholicism, and Jesus, until I realized in all objective reality, that it was taking power away from myself, making it hard for me to finish college, care about anything of this world (including adorable babies that my cousins just had) and other great things this world has to offer, because of "you have to prepare for the 2nd coming of Christ, end of days, etc etc". All that did was turn me afraid, and cynical towards this world and put me on some psychiatric meds for developing paranoia.
How's that for a loving God?
THEN they try to tell you that you're going to burn in hell after you leave their little "cult".
How's that different than the mafia?
Fear is not god.
Punishment is not god.
Burning in hell is not god either.
In all reality, this is all probably written by some disgruntled men from yesteryear who discovered that life wasn't fair and that some people were scumbags who really DID deserve to rot in hell, so they came out with this garbage called religion to make things right. TO overcome the world.
Well guess what?
This world can be overcome in other ways as well, which are alot more mentally healthy.
Believe me, this world is B*llshit.
empower yourself.
