It seems like Atheists are taking over Christianity. They are the ones who get offended if you say "Merry Christmas!" Oh my gosh! GRIN AND BEAR IT? Seriously. That was what my Sunday School lesson was about today. My friend is in a band and said her band gave out Christmas cards and said "Merry Christmas from our band family to yours" and then someone got offended so it's Happy Holidays now. Oh my gosh there is a Muslim in my school band and I go to a Christian school we are playing Christmas music and he can do it, so why can't someone that doesn't believe in anything about a God get offended by Merry Christmas? You can't be a musician and not play Christmas songs, rather your Jewish Christian Muslim or whatever you are?! I mean, come on! What is everyone else's opinion on this? Us Christians are losing our own religion because we're going by the rules of the Athiests to keep there own little religion alive. What do u think of X being short for Christ? It stand for Christ in Greek.

Atheists are not taking over anything. Nor do they want to. Maybe some select individuals do not like "merry christmas" OH WELL! we have a constitutional right to speech and religion. Fundamental Christians are what is taking over. All religion and no God involved. There are no Holy wars against
atheism either. Maybe if Christians would start setting an example to atheists by showing God's love to the world instead of Hate and stupidity there wouldn't be so many atheists. You are supposed to love these people. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love your neighbor. Not just your Christian neighbor.

Oh puhleeze, stop listening to Bill O'Reilly and stop reading World Net Daily.

You said someONE got offended over Merry Christmas, so ONE person gets offended and you assume ALL atheists are opposed to the phrase ? Perhaps the person was Jewish, Jeho vah Witness or something else.

I couldn't care less if people wish me a Happy Holiday OR a Merry Christmas OR a blessed Yule.

I hear the most belly aching about Happy Holidays. I think the crowd that is sooooooooooo offended by "Happy Holidays" (which includes THIER Holiday, Merry Christmas only applies to one) I think THEY are the ones who need to build a bridge and get over it.

I realize that MOST Christians don't get their knickers in a twist over Happy Holidays, but the the very noisy ones like Bill O'Reilly and his ilk do, and the speak AS IF they are speaking for every Christian in the Universe.

I'll have myself a wonderful Winter Solstice, and you have yourself a Merry Christmas.

And if saying Merry Christmas make you happy, then say it ! Don't let someONE spoil it for you, don't broad brush ALL atheists for the the actions of ONE or a few, and for pity sakes, don't get offended by Happy Holidays !

Sometimes I wonder just what the heck some Christians want from atheists. They grouse if they DON'T say Merry Christmas, and they say they are hypocrits if they do CELBRATE Christmas, or any other holiday that resembles it, that happens to fall in December.

You are generalizing as every atheist covers a lot of ground.

Personally I am not offended by anyone saying Merry Christmas to me and I will respond with a Happy Holidays in return as Christmas is not the only holiday celebrated at this time of year.

The thing you chrisitans really can't seem to comprehend is that America is supposed to be a secular society, not a christian theocracy.
No one is 'taking over you'. People of different beliefs are just fed up with the way christians think the entire world should revolve around them and their beliefs.
Get a grip, christianity is still the dominant religion in America. The constant whining about how you can't say Merry Christmas is rather silly.
And by the way, say Merry Christmas all you want, just don't think you can drape secular public buildings or institutions with your religion and expect no one to complain.

My best friend is a Jewish atheist (don't ask) and she doesn't care when people say "Merry Christmas." So you are wrong when you say all of them care. All I see is you complaining about having to change Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays. (Don't see what it has to do with atheist.) Maybe you should be the one to grin and bear it. Some people don't care, others do. You should respect other peoples beliefs. If that isn't to hard for you.

I don't really think it's atheists who are offended by the "Merry Christmas" as much as those who practice other religions (Jewish, etc). I'm an atheist myself and say "Merry Christmas" but merely out of habit. And besides, why most Christianity be shoved down our throats in this country? I always thought there was freedom of religion but I have seen very little of it ever since I turned atheist. Maybe it's not the atheists that are taking over as much as the atheists that are feedup with being taken over by religion?

This was the typed equivilent of a Gatling Gun.

Holidays mean "holy days." It's holy to lots of people: Jews and Christians. I don't see the difference between happy holidays and merry christmas and I myself say "Happy Christmas" in greeting.

Why are you feeling all persecuted? To really understand persecution, you might try being an Atheist for a day. My son can't even join the Boy Scouts.

Nice try tho!

I'm a third-generation atheist, and I don't get offended when someone says "Merry Christmas." I don't know any atheists who do, just as I don't know any atheists who get offended if someone wishes them a "Happy Chanakuh." Why would we want to be unhappy on either of those days?

I think you're just looking for an excuse to fell persecuted.
