I think the time is now. I was a life long Republican, but due to my disgust with President Bush, I have switched over to the Democratic Party. I plan to vote for Obama. I think we should have Universal Healthcare, including dental care, for everyone. The Republicans do not want Universal Healthcare, they say it is too expensive. How can we spend 2 Billion Dollars a week just in Iraq and we don't have the money for healthcare? Bush has free healthcare paid by taxpayers, he knows healthcare is important, he has a doctor go on every trip with him, but he is willing for many Americans to gamble with their health and finances, with no coverage. There is no excuse. Some people argue that Government Healthcare is bad, poor quality, long waits, etc. Well, damn, Government Healthcare works for members of Congress, we should be so lucky, give me the Congressperson's healthcare coverage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's going to take YOU, willing to work 80 hour weeks and giving every dime away.
Why don't you demand affordable luxury housing for everyone, while you're at it?
WAKE UP. Who do you expect to pay for this? The "government"? Where do you think the government gets the money from?? Joe average worker.
Sheesh. Demand what you want. But unless you have a realistic, practical way to PAY for what you're demanding, it's just like my toddler asking for another lollipop.

when most people think "universal healthcare" they are really thinking "free or almost free healthcare". no such thing exist. it will be very expensive.
the closest thing we have now to socialized medicine is Medicare or the Veteran's Administration.
Medicare eligibles currently pay $93.50 per month for Part B and approx $20 per month for Part D (prescription drugs). on top of that most of them buy Medicare Supplement insurance which runs anywhere from $100 to $250 additional per month. in round numbers, that's approx $300 per month out of pocket. and that's only a small; portion of the actual cost. check your last pay stub. that deduction for Medicare we all pay is paying for the rest.
if you want to see what universal healthcare looks like in action, visit a Veterans Administration hospital for a day. that might be an eye-opener for some.
i'm not sure what the answer is. the fact is, the type of medical care that Americans expect is very expensive. one way or another, someone has to pay for it. and if you give that responsibility to the government then you better lower your expectations on the quality and quantity of the healthcare you will receive.

I think we should be getting pretty close to that time. The PROBLEM is that people who have group health insurance have no clue how much their company is contributing! They do not realize that they may be making another $1,000 or more a month, and then they complain when they do not get a raise!
See videos on how each presidential candidate feels about health care reform!
