My friend had one that just popped out of no where, and all you have to do is take some vitamin c tablets and wash it when you're in the shower. Hers went away in like2-3 days. It was down significantly by the next morning. After you wash it you could take a cotton swab and dab some alcohol on it and then put some ointment on it that will numb it.

GET ABREVA!!!!! Trust me, I get cold sores all the time and I've tried everything. Abreva, by far, is the most effective thing so far. Put it on constantly throughout the day and definately a lot right before bed. If it is not completely gone by Friday, it definately will not be noticable.

Try a roll on anti-perspirant will dry it out and you will be rid of it sooner.
A roll-on, like the original Ban.
Call your pharmasist....they have new stuff, over the counter, that will reduce the time you have to suffer.
Most of all, don't try to cover it up....ick.
Don't use carmex, etc.....it just keeps it moist and you will have it longer. You want to apply a topical antibiotic, sure, but then dry it out.
A combo of both, is best.

Dip a q tip in Hydrogen Peroxide and touch it onto the cold sore if it is on the outside. Swish with it if it is on the inside.
Do this two or three times a day.
It kills pain and will heal it in time.

Try abreva or cold sore treatment. It can't help it totally go away because it is a virus (herpes) that causes it, but it can help the sore go down slightly.

I find that increasing my Vitamin C intake to 1000-1500mg per day will shorten the duration by 3 days.

Go to the doctor and ask for Zovirax. or Acyclovir. It will squelch the herpes virus at the end of that nerve.
