I'm curious. To those that feel suicide is selfish, why do you think so?
I don't think it is. I've been suicidal, and I've attempted suicide many times. At that point, you'd give the world to make those around you happy - but that's the problem. You can't make others happy, if you can't even make yourself happy. When someone kills themselves, they're not thinking about taking something away from you. And who are you to say that you "own" a part of their life, and they're taking it away, anyway? Maybe some people have just never had someone in their life feel suicidal, or maybe you never have. I know someone that's had more than 20 people in his life either die, or leave him: His parents and other members of his family, his friends, and his friends' parents. He suffers from various mental illnesses, including schizophrenia. He can't live without doses of drugs and countless therapy sessions, and even then, he's barely alive. I guess I just don't understand how that's selfish. Why?

Yeah, ehm.. blob/kitty. And I didn't get an invite into this world. I didn't have a say in it. Shouldn't I be able to leave when I please? I think some people simply don't have the experience to know what suicide really IS.
You know, I'd like to trade places with them for a couple of days. They can deal with my pain for a while, and see how they turn out.
Every person I've ever told the WHOLE truth about myself to, regardless of religion, says they would've committed suicide already. Even preists / pastors / ministers have said that.
Suicide's not selfish: That's what suicide and life support have in common. With both, you're just dying in a way that your not hurting anymore.
