Why is it the Christian who are a majority religion in the west are so much of the victim mentality with this?
Seasons greetings and happy holidays have been around for decades but its only now that people (particularly in the USA ) are making an issue out if it.
Utter stupidity

k..I'm not wildly religious, and I work in retail, and say Happy holidays to people. There are more holidays in December than just Christmas, there is also Kwanzaa and Hanukkah, maybe more. I want everyone to have a good holiday, not just a select few. Isn't that what this time of year is all about? Being good and kind to our fellow man, even if they are a different religion? But I do feel that some politicos are de-christmas-ing Christmas by not letting people sing songs that mention christmas...that's going a bit too far.

I am a Christian and I have a lot of friends that hate when people say happy holidays and to me that is ignorant. There are several people that haven't learned about Jesus and therefore don't celebrate Christmas so I feel it is more respectful to say Happy holidays just in case they don't celebrate. Plus Happy Holidays encompasses New Years! But for many Christians they feel you should only say Merry Christmas.

I can't believe that this question actually has to be asked...Are there really people out there who would boycott a store for recognizing that there is more than one holiday in December? If someone wished me a Happy Hanukkah, I'd probably feel a little awkward since I'm not Jewish, so I wouldn't want Jewish people to feel uncomfortable by wishing them a Merry Christmas, you know?

I would not stop shopping at a store based on that.Likewise I will not stop extending the traditional Christmas greetings either.I respect the rights of each person to observe the Christmas season as they wish.I also expect this same respect when I practice my faith.Merry Christmas to all.

No. I am a Christain, and I dont think that Christains should be offended by all this thats going on. I will continue to celebrate Christmas in my own way with other fellow Christains and my family. I am not going to boycott businesses that do those things. I patronise all kinds of shops that are run by all kinds of people. I try to tell people the truth about Jesus and if they dont want to hear it I am not offended by it. I am the one that receives the benefits of being a Christain not them.

Here's one: my dad doesn't shop at Target because they won't let the Salvation Army ring bells outside their doors. But he'll shop at Wal-Mart because they do, and they say "Merry Christmas." Meanwhile, Wal-Mart is engaged in exploiting overseas workers, undermining local business, and depressing wages and working conditions for their employees. Target isn't all great or anything, but they're engaged in community development and, to some extent, trying to ensure they sell merchandise that's manufactured under tolerable conditions.
So which should a Christian support?
I don't believe in boycotts, but I do think there are consequences to how we spend our money. I *try* to base my spending on supporting businesses that engage in good social and environmental practices, not on what they say or don't say.
Peace to you.

No I will not. It's that companies choice to use whatever greeting they feel necessary.. I may not shop there if they don't have Traditional Christmas things because that's what I like to buy for my Holidays... But I will not boycott the company.

That is the reality in Canada right now and it is kind of sad - they want to take your money, credit card but can't even wish you a Merry Christmas and would you believe that this year they are not even say Happy Holidays neither. I asked my good friend Dave about this and he said just say Merry Christmas anyway - you will get some sort of response - I am not so sure! Merry Christmas anyway!

I'm not a Christian, but I won't be boycotting any businesses just because of the terms they use to celebrate the various winter holidays.
