My husband has been abused by his mother basically his whole life. From being told he was a mistake, hitting him, smacking him around, destroying his personal items so on so forth. We are having a "big wedding" next october and he wants to send her a wedding invitation but write on the inside envelope "don't even bother showing up at the wedding". I don't want to send her an invite at all so which would be a better one?

IF you do send her one, then id suggest not including the address in it. or sending it afterwards. but In all honesty, i wouldnt do it. trust me, its alot of stress and fighting waiting to happen. Ive been married 5 months and had a fight with one person on my fathers side over it and i ended up telling all of them from that side not to come even though i sent them an invite...needless to say they made it hell before i got married and i was a nervous reck and worried theyd show up and ruin my wedding. I've still not talked to any of them. So my suggestion, if u do send one, id ask him to send it afterwards and maybe put, "to bad your not a real mother to be invited to watch me marry my beautiful wife" or something of the sort. that way things wont fall out of place and she wont show up and ruin ur wedding and he will still get his wish. good luck hun.

I have the same problem with my mother. I decided she doesn't even need an invitation. I've only talked to her once since my parents got a divorce a year ago. That was only long enough to tell her to stay out of my life cuz I'm better off without her. I've even decided that she will not get to know my kids whenever I have kids. If he really wants to send her an invite have him mail it the day of the wedding. That way you get a nice wedding without her and she gets a reminder of what she missed. Congrads on getting married. DO NOT send her an invitation! As a matter of fact, I would not even TELL her about the wedding...unless she already knows about it.
I would totally leave her out of your life....no communication...no invitation!

I wouldn't send her the invite. I would call her or have him call her and say flat out "you're not invited" If she shows up at the wedding or reception call the police

Don't send invitation to those who you do not want to attend.
IF he feels it, send her a card stating "you will never be invited to an important day of my life" or something.
But do NOT send an invitation.
Just wipe your hands of her. She isn't worth an invitation.

If he feels strongly about not having her at the wedding, then please send an announcement afterwards to let her know that he is married. She can find out after the fact if he feels best not having her there.

if he has that type of relationship with his mother.. don't bother. it would be bad to invite someone to your wedding that you don't like very much. despite family pressure. good luck.
