I got a small butterfly on my wrist! I love it! But my mom told me that I will never get the job I want (which is to be a surgeon)! I dont want people to not want me to operate on them because of that! She said I will never be able to dress up and look elegant! I have always been in pageants and stuff and she said I couldnt now! A lot of other people told me that it was one of the worst decisions I could've made! But I think it is cute! What do yall think?

I think you can still look extremely elegant with tattoos.
I mean, not only are they quite fashionable right now, (have you SEEN the Juicy Couture advertisements?), but if you love something that much, you'll radiate confidence and grace.

Don't worry. :3

P.S. If you want to make your tattoo look super elegant and chic for a night out, use a very bright and sparkly liquid eyeliner. Follow the outline of the butterfly, and voila! Perfect for a night out!

Think about it for a long time (and by long time, I mean atleast a year). If you are certain it is something you want, then have it done in Henna first. Henna tattoos are temporary. By actually seeing it done in Henna and seeing how it effects your daily life can be a determining factor as to whether you get it done or not.

Size matters. Consider the size you get. If it is too large - in my opinion - it is definitely unattractive and noticable.

Professional Career. Whoever says that having a tattoo on the inner part of your wrist is going to prevent you from getting jobs is only part correct. If it is a large tattoo - then yes, it could be a factor in getting a future job. If it is relatively small - then not always. I have friend who is a med-student and she has never had a problem getting an internship. She has a tribal symbol on her inner wrist the size of a 50-cent piece and she can cover it up with a wrist watch.

I, myself, have a tattoo on my inner wrist. It is the Chinese symbol for "Friend" and is approximately the size of a 50-cent piece. It's easy to cover up.

If you are concerned about it effect future job offers, go to a local hospital and ask surgeons their opinion about the issue. :)

As time goes on tattoos become more acceptable. When I was younger I was told that if you wanted to be something you don't get tattoos. You don't know how many people I have come across with tattoos in every income. Lets say you become a surgeon. You will wear gloves while operating. You can wear a nice bracelet while you meet patients in your office. Most people aren't concerned with tattoos anymore.

I think you can still be elegant and have wrist tattoos. It personally wouldn't bother me one bit to have a surgeon with a tattoo. I would think she is more down to earth than some of the stuffed shirt doctors.

personally i think society needs to update itself more b4 tattoos are fully acceptable, and that anyone with them is accepted as a person, not as a person to stay away from. I love my tattoos and would never trade or change them, but ti will be difficult for me to get jobs, to be "girly" and all tht stuff...

your tat shoudlnt hold you back. it shouldnt have to dictate what you can and cannot do. Unfortunately, you'll have to adjust to people looking at you differently, and possibly avoiding you bc of it, but its well worth sorting out those mean peps, then having them in with the good ones.. LOL
go for what you want, and not what other want from you.

You're probably fine. It is not like you have a big and gaudy tatoo sticking out. A small butterfly is perfectly fine. As a surgeon people aren't going to care about a little butterfly.

I have always wanted one there and I plan on getting one! I think its wonderful! You can cover them up with big watches and bracelets. Dont worry about that! Also, they make makeup especially for tattoos that cover and dry and look natural! Go to MAC cosmetics to check it out!
I hope this makes you feel better and enjoy your tattoo!

I have a wrist tatoo and I am a dentist. Tatoos have nothing to do with your skill, they're simply body art
