Muhammad was not visited by an Angel of God. Muslims claim it was Gabriel, but if you read about Gabriel in the Bible his message has always been about The Christ, annoucing the arrival of John the Baptist and Jesus. Why would Gabriel change that message? That would mean God changes and we know He does not! The spirit that visited Muhammad did not even give its name during the first visit. Muhammad heard of Gabriel from his first wife's cousin and then conveniently the spirit says it is Gabriel. Such deceitfulness from an angel? No, but a fallen angel would act that way.

God Bless.

I know it's long but please read... it is the truth.

After the Arab invasion of the Persian Empire all books were burned by the command of Khalifa't (Arab/muslim leader) of the time, saying the books were works of Satan because he (The Khalifa't) couldn't read them.... A few books and documents survived, and amongst these there was a reference of the rulings of the king of Persia at the time of Muhammad. Not many people know about these writings, but I have personally got the chance to translate them. In one section there is a list of people who were exiled from the empire because of their wrong actions. In the list there was a Magi (Zoroastrian Priest) called Rouzbeh Gabriel. Gabriel had attempted to over thrown the king of Persia by leading a revolution against him, and so he was arrested and exiled after a court hearing by the order of the King. He was sent to the worst of places known to the Persians (the land of Arabs, were the sun was extremely hot and the land did not give birth to any plants)...
A few years later in the deserts of Arabia a man rises and claims to have seen an Angel in the mountains named "Jebrial" < In Arabic spoken at the time of Muhammad there was no sound for "G" so it would be replaced by "J"...
Gabriel, the Magi exiled from Persia, now had the chance to get revenge from the Persians, therefore he introduces himself as an Angel... Gabriel who was a fully educated priest, and knew about all the religions of the subjects of Persians with in the empire, which include Judaism, Christianity, and foremost Zoroastrianism, he starts teaching these new ideas to Muhammad... latter on you can find Gabriel in Islam as "Salman Farsi" > literally means "Peaceful Persian" ... He always sat on the right hand of Muhammad, and there are references with in Islam itself, were Arabs ask Muhammad the reason he sits on his right hand, they complained saying he's not an Arab, not even of the Semitic nationality. But Muhammad always respected Gabriel (Salman Farsi) and saw him as his teacher.

First of all.the message of God to mankind is called Islam (submit ion) .God chooses whoever he wants from them to be his messenger(prophet) .God sends one of the angels to that prophet to convey to him what God wants to say.And that angel is Gabriel.Gabriel came to muhammed while he was meditating on top of a mountain in Mecca and told him that he's been chosen as a messenger, and related to him the first word from the Quran which was (read) And told him to pronounce that to all . The people of Mecca rejected him And tried even to kill him , but he was protected by a member of his family who was influential .And he was forced to leave Mecca to Madina Where there were some people who herd of him and believed in him and from there he began to preach the new religion. You asked how he changed his culture . well , his people were on the religion of Abraham that's monotheism but with time they deviated and started to worship idols in addition to God and he wanted to correct that and eventually through evidents succeeded .I hope that helped somewhat.

The angel is Gabriel. The link below will give you his biography. Also has evidence of Prophet Mohammad being mentioned in the Torah by name in the original Hebrew text in the Song of Solomon 5:16.
