That is a yes/no question that can be answered with other means. If he asks Yes or No, Am I Pretty? Then you only have to options. But if he asks "Am I pretty?" You can answer other ways. I personally would give my reporting statement and say "Sir, I am a lowly trainee and I do not have the authority to judge if anybody is pretty!"

I was asked a similar question in BMT. I was walking out of the dining facility, then I was called over to the snake pit (where the MTIs eat). So, I went over to them and reported. They asked me if I have ever heard my MTI swear. This seems like a yes/no question. But, the correct answer, which I answered, was, "Sir, my military training instructor does not swear!"

You're gonna have to say no and take what's coming. A yes answer will only get you in deeper water. If you try to be funny and say something like "why? looking for a boyfriend?" I can assure you that training will not go well on you from there on out.

The reason he would ask you, BTW is because you were looking around and watching him when you should have your eyes "caged." In other words, stand at attention with your eyes properly placed straight ahead at 15 degrees above the horizen and this won't be a question you'll have to deal with repeatedly. Incidently, if your eyes WERE caged and you weren't looking at him, then your best answer is going to be "I don't know, Drill Sergeant, my eyes are locked"

It is a no win but I strongly recommend You say no. Mine said that to me and I said no, I went to the quarterdeck for a while but it was the better choice. If you try and be funny it shows a lack of respect and bearing. It can mean he caught you looking at him or it was simply a test of your bearing. Keep your eyes forward and when they come up to you stare through them if you can do that it will show that your focused and disiplined. Dont try to be funny though it will never end well.

It's a no win question. You're screwed either way. Just answer it in the negative and take your lumps. Answering in the positive could make life more difficult for you as far as what term the DI uses in reference to you in the future.

You could answer, "Hooah, Drill Sergeant!" The meaning of "hooah" is so debated, that you are not really comitting one way or another. If you're a Marine, I would not recommend this approach.

I agree with those who say it's a no win - either way your gonna be dropped for push-ups or put on some crappy detail. Been there and done that.

It's a no win question. Personally, I'd go with "Sir, no sir!" You're going to be yelled at either way, but God help you if you say you find your fellow male "pretty."

That is a loaded question. It will go off no matter what answer you give.

No matter what you say it will result in some push-ups or other physical exercise. May as well say yes and give him a wink. LOL.
