I think that you should save up more money for a 60GB or 80GB PS3.

The advantages of having the 60GB &80GB PS3 over the 40GB PS3 is that there are 2 more USB ports, digital camera flash card slots, and backwards compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games.

The 40GB PS3 cannot play PS2 games as you probably already know.

Basically the 60GB and 80GB PS3's have all of the features and the 40GB PS3 is just missing a few features. But since you already have a PS2 you could just play your PS2 games on your PS2, but it is really convient to play all of your games on one PS3 console, so it's up to you.

Well I would go ahead and get the 40 gig the only difference is the extra memory card slot. Since your not planning on using your ps3 for your ps2 games then I would highly recommend you get the 40 gig. You can use the 100 bucks you save on a game or two (used) if your lucky. I got the 60 gig for 600 bucks but that because I bought mine console when it just came out.,...wish I could of bought the 40 gig.......I still use my ps2 console for my ps2 and ps1 games....i only use my ps3 for ps3 games and my blue ray movies.....
