By the time it's printed, it will be just fine, but if you WANT to play a little more...
Set your blur tool to about 10 pixels and 10-20% strength and go over the sharp demarcation between his paws the the snow. This will help make it look more like he was not added in to the background. You COULD use the clone tool and put a bit of the snow and greass over the tips and bottoms of his paws so it looks like they are indented into the show a bit.
The hat is great.

When you cut out the photo of the dog, you could have used the feather tool (if you have photoshop) to fade his feet slightly and make them blend into the snow more (only use 2-5px since you don't want him to look like he is growing out of the snow). You could also use the eraser with the faded sides for the same effect. It only looks fake because all of the lines are really sharp where you cut him out. I think the hat looks great though.

You can easily tell that its fake and it doesent look to good if i were you i'd take another picture of your dog (the picture is'nt very good) and just leave it wearing what it is people will appreciate that as well.
You could have like a christmas backround like position your adorable doggy in front of your tree than snap the picture and thats what you should use for you christmas card

Totally cute- love it, the hat looks just a little pasted on, but he really looks like he is standing on snow- I'm sure when it is printed on cards, it will look totally real %100. This pic is enlarged to see a lot of detail-

I think it is just plain cute! I think you've done a great job. It looks just like snow he is standing on and the hat doesn't look fake to me. I think it is a great card to send. Merry Christmas!

Actually I think the fakery is pretty good.
Improve it? Ummm..maybe a drop shadow or two on the hat in the appropriate places.
Other than that I quite enjoy the pic.
Thanks for sharing it.

The dog is so cute and even though I could tell he was pasted onto the snow, that's part of the charm. Send it out, your friends will love it!

Make sure that your dog is displayed sharper than the background! That will improve the photo. Maybe you could try to add some shades too
