Very important. Why? Because sin keeps us from God, when we go to confession and receive absolution from God for our sins we renew our relationship with God.

Confession is important in that is allows you to anonymously talk about something you realize is wrong, for you and perhaps in the eyes of God. It is an emotional release and thus important for mental health. You are putting into words the matter that is haunting you, and just saying these things out loud or writing them down make it easier to "fix."

Not at all in a formal sense. In my church, confession is general. If you have a relationship with God through prayer, you are in a state of confession and forgiveness at all times.

It is always wise to acknowlege your sins to God ,and ask for forgiveness and help in the future not to commit them again. Mortal sins have to be confessed before a priest, but not venial sins, but you may do that if you wish.

The Bible says to confess your sins to one another. I believe this is so that we do not store guilt, but so that we can release it and deal with it. However, I do not believe that anyone can forgive sins except for God Himself. There is no mediator or middle man. Jesus is our way to the Father, no earthly man or religious leader.

God was invented by man. The bible was written by man and voted on by a pagen ruler of what gospels to include. So not high. I pray and meditate, but don't confess anything to anyone but myself, cause I am the one who has to deal with forgiving myself. IF I wronged someone, which I try not to do, then I would ask Their forgiveness.

"As the Father has sent me, even so I send you. . . . Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained" (John 20:21–23).
By confessing your sins you are given the chance to wipe all of your sins away.

I figure God knows all and sees all. He doesn't need us to confess anything to Him. Confession is for our benefit. We need to acknowledge what we do wrong to help better ourselves. So I think it is very important for me as a person, but not necessarily to strengthen my relationship with God, He already knows I exactly who and what I am. But I need to admit what I am and what I do.
