if you want flight training through the military, the AIR FORCE would be a better choice. However, there are many private pilot schools for airline pilots.

No, schools like Purdue have Av Tech majors where you can take professional flight.
Of course the military helps you if you want to get an airline job as the airlines do tend to hire ex-military pilots.

The Army is the only service that allows enlisted pilots you would have to earn the rank of CWO first though. In rank being a CWO is just below a first Lt. After entering and earning your wings you will automatically be upgraded in rank to CWO.

No... you can learn how to fly on your own. You can go as far as you want... from single engine land-based planes (little prop-jobs you see occasionally) to multi-engine jets (like those commercial jets you see at airports.) You can get a job at United, Pan Am, or any airline. But you have to pay for the use of the plane, instructor's time and for fuel. "Avgas" is EXPENSIVE!!! And then there's the insurance. If you want jets, it's still cheaper to buy a ticket.
But, if you want to fly fighters and attack aircraft, you "have to go to the army or whatever." Or, I suppose, you can purchase your own. But, unless you buy your own, the latest and greatest are still military.
