Now there's an interesting question! Do you know for a fact that Christian kids are allowed to go see gory movies? I would be at least a little surprised at that. But if so, I suspect the parents say "they know it's only a movie; it's not real." Why they can't say that about something which is quite clearly a fantasy is beyond my understanding. They seem to find it quite a bit worse than Harry Potter, and I'm not sure why. I haven't read the books yet, though, just looked at them in the bookstore.

Well, the books were written with the express purpose of being an atheist's response to Narnia, and has as one of its central tenets that religion, and specifically Christianity, is evil and bad. So, I think they should react in a similar way as anyone does when told that their beliefs are wrong. Sadly, it would help if the books or the movie were any good. Golden Compass itself was pretty decent, but the other two books really fell off of a cliff in terms of storytelling and overall quality, and stepped it up a lot in the 'underaged kids having sex because they can' department, which is always something great that we want our children to read.

If you mean why arent they protesting movies like Saw...I agree with you! I suspect that there are smaller protestings however the RCC stepped in on this one and that always is much more news worthy than a bunch of non-denom Christians protesting. BTW: I dont know a one born again Christian who lets their kids see saw and all this other gore that is normal nowadays in the theater.

I completely agree with the message you're giving. What is the difference between the Golden compass, and extremely sexual, violent, and swear plagued movies in God's eyes?

I think some movies are bad for everyone and everyone should avoid them.

Like black comedies. Anything with Lindsay Lohan

You imply a very good point. I don't get it...I really don't. Apparently not believing in God is much much worse than murdering. Very odd.

Because Saw and those sadistic killer movies are in line with their God's appreciation for blood and violence. He sees it, and He approves...as do I.
