In Jeckyl and Hyde which one is the monster? I thought Hyde was but I've been told I'm wrong?

Actually that can be a deep question but if you are wanting to know which one LOOKED like the monster Hyde would be the monster. check out this site. fun question. thanks! -Shell

You can believe either one, and back it up with enough evidence.


Jeckyl can be seen as a monster because he was the one that created Hyde, and created the mess for himself. People see him as monstrous because he's so unhappy with such a great, successful life that he has to throw it all away to be happy (which, in that time period, was unheard of.)

Hyde can be the monster because of all of the things he does wrong, and how he doesn't know any better as to what he's doing and "carries it off like Satan, really" as said in the book.

Yes Mr Hyde was the monster. Dr Hunter born in East Kilbride became the foremost doctor of his day with a house and surgery on a very upmarket street in London, however he bought the house at the end of his back garden on a downmarket street. joined the gardens together and in the downmarket house he disected bodies and discovered a great deal about how the human body works. but of course the bodies were fo the very poor, and of criminals. This gave Stevenson the idea about the two sides of mans nature
