I live in a neighborhood where we can't have lawns. The trees start 10 feet from each house. The rules of the neighborhood include paint colors so that our houses blend into the forest... I joke that we can paint our house any color as long as it is khaki. It is nice though.

I assuming you're speaking of paint color...I prefer something that blends well with the environment around the house...I live in the High Plains of Colorado and our house is kind of a sand color. Doesn't stand out and blends well.

Do you mean the color on the outside of your house, or what colors around the outside of your house (ie landscaping, etc).

I like a soft, muted color. If your house surroundings are pale, like lots of sky, use a light color. If the surroundings are dark, like lots of trees, use a darker color.

My fave is Sherwin Williams' "Rookwood Dark Red" - like a dark brick color.

Sage green paint with rustic red trim goes great with our trees. Love it.
