For example, what if something were to happen at work or outside of work and you had to go to the PD/SD and they had to tell you that the person who committed the crime against you was a sex offender, and you had no previous knowledge of this fact? This was the "best" example I could come up with.

Most companies don't hire sex offenders because they are felons.
However, if an employer failed to disclose that an employee was a convicted sex offender and an employee was attacked by the sex offender, the company would be civilly and possibly criminally liable for damages suffered by the victim.

Unless the law prohibits hiring a sexual offender for the job, I don't think the employer is even allowed to ASK. Therefore, the employer probably CAN'T tell their other employees.

The question is, does the employer know this person is a sex offender. I'm sure many times they do not.

I don't think there's a legal requirement. However, the offender is required to register as a sex offender with the police.

it depends on the state really but most would leave up to there discretion.
