I am looking for a new TV. I want something...impressive. I love to watch movies and want to see them in a good a picture quality as I can get. I play PS2 and PS3, so the TV needs to work really well with that too.
I want something good enough that I won't want to get rid of it and get a new one in 3 years.
Do I need a 1080p or is a 720p ok? What is the difference really?
LCD or Plasma, which is better? Is there an issue of "burn in" with console games on a Plasma?
I really like the Sony brand, and am interested in maybe trying out Vizio.
What do you reccomend?

What size are you looking for. 37" and under, a 720p should be just fine. But a 1080p will be a little better. If you go bigger, you'll almost certainly want a 1080p set.

As for plasma or LCD, I've been looking at that myself. Have you been to a store lately with lots of sets on display all showing the same thing? In my book, the LCDs are just blowing away Plasma these days in image quality. They seem to be brighter and sharper especially the Sony's and Samsungs.
