Hope Makes A Difference
Hope looks for the good in people
Instead of harping on the worst in them.
Hope opens doors
Where despair closes them.
Hope discovers what can be done
Instead of grumbling about what cannot be done.
Hope draws its power from a deep trust in God
And the basic goodness of mankind.
Hope "lights a candle"
Instead of "cursing the darkness."
Hope regards problems,
Small or Large,
As opportunities.
Hope cherishes no illusions,
Nor does it yield to cynicism.

I can think of nothing that I would kill for but many things would be worth dying for. You mention poverty... It's obvious there's to little love in the world when 1/3 of the population has an obesity problem and 1/3 are starving to death. I'd be willing to die this very second if it would bring more love into the human equation... I'm not important enough for such a sacrifice to mean anything. That's why Jesus came and died, but for all his wise teachings it would seem that love draws ever colder even among those who claim to follow him. Hope is important to us because it speaks to the reality that every situation is temporary and hope points the way to the open door. Without hope life has no meaning and we would become stuck in despair. We are meant to keep moving.

We all like options and to believe that we have choices. Hope is the act of creating options that may be unlikely but are desireable all the same.

Because sometimes when the crap hits the fan in life for whatever reason, wheither a person is ill, depressed, hope is all you have, theres gotta be something to hold on to. lol

hopelessness bring death.
it bring defeat, poverty, diseases, shorten lives
