He can be considered as an American although when he was born on 11 February 1735, the American colonies were under the rule of the English. Boone fought against the British and their Shawnee allies during the American Revolutionary War. Boone is one of the iconic figures of American history.

Believe this or not, but with www.ancestry.co.uk and www.familysearch.org, Daniel Boone's ancestors go back to his 25th GREAT-GRANDFATHER --Henry de Bohun--who was born in 906 AD and died in 943 AD in Normandy, France.
Daniel also had many great-grandparents (on his father's side of his family. Didn't try to do his mother's side yet) from ENGLAND & WALES, as well as the ones from FRANCE. A few were knighted for work done with their respective kings or queens, by the way. My copy/paste quit on me, or else I'd put it all in here, but to type it would take all night (argh). If anyone would want the complete list, my email is on my profile.

Since he was born in the U. S. and was an American citizen, his nationality could only be one thing, American. Now his ethnic origins, I am not so certain.
