1) 40gb does not have back-comp, memory card readers, and only has 2 usb ports while the 80 has back-comp, memory card readers and 4 usb ports
2) yes it can be hooked up to 40gb ps3 but it wont be able to hold the memory stick because there are no memory card readers
3) the usb cable is to charge the controllers and you can also use it to connect psp to the ps3
4) the harddrive is used to save game progress, videos, music, and photos.
5) only when you download games off playstation store that is compatible with ps3 and psp
6) you cant use the psp as a controller but you can use it a rearview mirror in some racing games,
7) no ps2 cant be played on 40gb- it does not have back-comp

There are truthfully 3 diverse structures.... the 40, 60 and 80GB's..... all of them can examine flash drives, and that i'm uncertain what SACD is..... however the 40 is the main undemanding, because of the fact it has all of the useful components of the 80 in simple terms smaller fee and GB of direction.... however the 60 is the only one that is PS2 pastime like minded and is likewise the toughest to locate.... in spite of the undeniable fact that, you may bypass on line from the PS3 save and procure countless the PS2 video games for the PS3 40 or 80 GB's..... sturdy success!!
