I'm not sure what you mean by ginger. To me, ginger is a kind of rust color as opposed to a reddish-violet, which some of the red shades can turn to. I like it, actually, since it is a natural hair color and looks like you could have been born with it, instead of purplish red that is not natural. However, since you don't like it, you can use the cover-up methods the others have suggested, or shampoo it several times, since the reddish colors fade a lot faster than some of the others. Just apply the shampoo, rinse, shampoo again, rinse, and do it about three times. It won't wash all the color out, but will tone it down considerably. Use a conditioner after the final rinse, so it doesn't dry your hair out too much.

Incidentally, your co-workers might think your hair looks great in ginger, even though you don't like it. I once had too much red in my hair and hated it, but when I went to work I had compliments galore! (Go figure!) Anyway, it's not a permanent change and will eventually fade away. You won't be stuck with it forever. Good luck!

I use to color my hair and found that when the color isn't quite what I want, I shampooed with Prell shampoo. It will strip some of the color from your hair. Wouldn't hurt to try! Use tonite and then in the morning.
