It shows you that actors don't think of everything. He flinched. Cost money to film it and they ab-lived most things. One shooting and it would cost too much to re-film it. They figured probably that back then people were just amazed at the show and would not think a smart person would think of it. Mostly children watched the show back then. We didn't question the power of Superman. It is fun to pick out flaws in movies. You can still see things that are not logical in films,
Or maybe the gun had a crytonite bullet in the chamber and he was avoiding contact. : Go figure!!!

Wikipedia describes superman as having immunity to all nonmagical assaults. needless to say, throwing a gun is magical. that's a paranormal and specific bond shared between villain and hero. The final ditch attempt, like the only in a million risk, recieves a circumstantial magical bonus. additionally see: reflex save.

I don't remember seeing that happen, but Superman has been through so many iterations I have no idea which one you're speaking of. Christopher Reeve was the best modern day Superman. RIP to him and Dana.

That's because that's not the real Superman - it's a Go'auld with a force shield, which blocks incoming objects based on their velocity - high speed objects are blocked, low speed ones can get through. that's how Col. O'Neill was able to put a knife thru Anubis' hand.

They always aim at the chest when they shoot bullets, but they always throw guns at the head. He only wears bullet proof vests.
