Last night he found out what it takes to be in the top fighters by digging in deep and finding what it takes to keep going. but how many think he is ready to be in title contention. I still think he needs a couple more hard fights. but hey I've been wrong before

I wouldn't mind seeing him in a five round fight, but your right I'd rather see him take on Florian, Tyson Griffin, Tavaras, Fisher, or Edgar first. He proved he is the real deal, I mean Guida won rounds 1 and 2 but other than the flash knockout he was never in any real trouble till the end of round 2 (watch the fight again and just look a Huerta's face, completely calm the whole fight until the end of round 2 where he was visibly frustrated, come round 3 he was pissed! and he turned it on and finished Guida). He could afford to spend some time on his wrestling but he did great, lived up the hype and I think even if he does lose the UFC will keep him around for a long time (just look at Guida, do you honestly think he's going anywhere?)

Fight of the Year?

I agree with you,he is top 5 now but not contender yet,I think after Penn and Stevenson fight Ken Flo is the #1 contender and I'd have him fight Tyson Griffen for the title shot because they're both the top two right now outside of the title fight UFC 80,I'd have Huerta fight Frankie Edgar though to stay fresh and rocket himself towards the top so outside of Penn & Stevenson my top 5 is
1.Ken-Flo
2.Tyson Griffen
3.Frankie Edgar
4.Spencer Fisher
5.Roger Huerta
But it's such a deep class and Joe Lauzon will be up there soon after a couple fights because he has all the tools and training with BJ full time now will be a huge benefit for his career but like I said he needs to beat at least two top fighters and then he's in the mix too

Many of the people that are saying Huerta are really underestimating Grey. Grey's an outstanding wrestler. I have a feeling Grey's gonna take him down and hold him down GnP. Maynard will win by Decision. We found out in the Huerta/Guida fight that he isn't good against wrestlers. He had to pull a freak win just to beat Clay.

I have to agree with some of you in that he needs more seasoning and only time will tell if he develops further. While he is a pretty good fighter and a real warrior I was watching his frustration mount and his facial expressions, especially during the second round. Lesser fighters have won championships in boxing but they usually don't hold that status very long and only time will tell if he can do it or make the necessary adjustments as a fighter to reach that next highest level that some of the others seem to be at in MMA. He is definitely no slouch though-that's for sure and I will look forward to watching him again as well as the other fighter that he beat.

One more fight, then a title shot. The lightweight title has been in limbo too long. Penn and Stevenson for the title. Ken Flo should fight the winner. In the mean time have Roger fight another top guy. If he wins, give him a shot. Exciting fighter, but I was offended that he had the American flag on the back of his trunks. Almost wiping his butt with the American flag.

Yeah I agree i think he should fight a few more top level fighters, like Kenny Florian, Joe Stevenson, and then maybe
BJ Penn at later time. Dont even mention Sean Sherkk cause hes a cheater and he lost to GSP while he was on Roids...loser!!!

I don't think he will ever win it. He won the fight last night, but he got his *** beat not Guida. If Sanchez moves down he becomes a contender. There's still Penn, Stevenson, Florian and he can't be any of them. I don't even think he would beat Mac Danzig. The real future star of the division is Joe Lauzon. I still think he was the best fighter at TUF 5 even though he lost.

No he is not ready and as long as BJ Penn, Sherk and Diego Sanchez(he's moving to light weight) are light weights he will never be a champion. I am telling you this and I am a Roger Huerta fan, but those 3 will keep him from ever being a champion. He will be a good fighter with exciting fights but never a champion. Now I am sure I am going to get a couple of people giving me thumbs down for my response. Go ahead!
