How hard and how unnatural would it be to write a longish paragraph in the first person, about yourself, without revealing your sex?
Like in English it's quite easy, since adjectives and most nouns don't change for males vs. females. In French you'd have to go out of your way to call yourself "une personne" so the adjective would agree with "personne" and not "je". In some languages gender is shown on the verb or on possessive articles ("my"). Which of these are true of Spanish?

Hello,

I agree with the first answerer. It can be done. One thing she alludes to is the gender neutrality of the first person direct and indirect object pronouns (both are 'me' and the possessive pronoun 'mi' is also gender-neutral). Another is the gender neutrality of verbs. Yes, you can refer to yourself as 'una persona', but I recommend using verb forms wherever possible, instead of revealing your gender with adjectives, which do not always have gender-neutral alternatives. For example, instead of saying "I'm a cashier", say "I work at the cash register". Also, you can replace something like "I'm excited to be here", with "it give me great pleasure to be here". There are always ways to get around showing gender. With that said, it can be difficult to make such deception work unless you're very familiar with the language...or you're a grammar goddess.

the verb doesn't tell you, neither does the article (it agrees with the thing possessed - not the person) it IS possible to write a paragraph like this...you would need to refer to yourself as una persona and have the adjectives agree to that - also, many adjectives in Spanish referring to people are non-specific, such as inteligente, intelectual, normal :-)
Good luck - you can do it!!!!

in the words of Beck:
"soy un perdidor , I'm a loser baby ,
so why don't ya kill me.
(porque no matarse)"

instead of leading off: I was given... / ....given to me
avoid my .... / ...... of mine (es facil, verdad?)

let the gender fall on a what where....... and not who.You
