We do have to abandon sin--by having our sins forgiven. Being forgiven requires repentance.
In Luke 17: "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him."
John has some helpful information in his first epistle:
"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
This is not a once-in-grace-always-in-grace situation. We must be in a state of grace, i.e., in a good relationship with God, free of serious sin, at the moment of death to live with God forever.

I think as long as we are human there will be times when we sin. However, grace does not give us the ability to sin all we want. Thats why God looks at the heart. If we truly are following Him and letting His Spirit lead, then we will not get caught up in a cycle of sin. For instance, if u mess up on let's say lying, but you are truly sorry and you and God work on it together, then you are right where you should be. But if your attitude is "i guess i can get away with it sometimes", then you are not right with God. I hope that helped.

Oh, you forgot that Jesus said "Be perfect, for I am perfect."
Listen, you have to look at things in context. Can you imagine Jesus saying "Go, and sin only a little bit..." No. The standard for perfection is, well... perfection. Sinless. Jesus Himself was without sin, and as Christians that is our goal - to strive to become like Christ in order to bring glory to God.
Jesus' blood IS enough to wipe away our sins, but salvation is about more than a "get-out-of-hell-free" card. It is about seeking and doing God's will for our lives, and to do that we must strive to be like Christ.
Hope this helps.

Because Jesus meant what he said, and he is the authority.
Paul, the poor man, was a great teacher to those who were babes in Christ--he tried to word things in ways that the particular people he was talking to would understand. He is very misunderstood and misquoted by modern people.

okay. We are all sinners. the penalty for sin is death. jesus died on the cross for us so we didnt have to go to hell forever. all we have to do is have a relationship with him. acept him as our savior. Ask him to live inside you. Once you have a relationship, you dont want to sin because jesus is perfect and hates sin but he will forgive you if you do. you shouldnt go throught life sinnig cause it hurt syou and jesus. Jesus said sin is only pleasureful for a season. it hurts god to watch you sin.

Because no-one can really live totally without sin. Preachers, Priests, Ministers, etc have always forgiven people for their sins.
When you can be absolved of sin, why work hard to keep from sinning? There are really no consequences.

If you truly believe in God, you wouldn't "sin to your hearts content" Everybody sins, but you'd ask for forgiveness and learn from your mistakes and not do it again.

It is not. Nothing unclean will enter heaven. The fire of Christ has to burn it away.
