Ok first a lil background..Our neighbor across the street had an adult Chocolate Lab named CoCo. They never did anything with her kept her in a kennel and never had her spayed. She got loose and came over here with my males..I know she stayed with one Male..not sure about the other. My neighbor never asked for her back just told me he didnt want her anymore..So I knew there was a great chance she got pregnant..She was in heat and around my males in early Oct. I've moved her inside our clean basement out of the cold. She's very pregnant..Her nipples are sagging more and more everyday..Everyday I check them and Friday I noticed that if you squeeze her nipples milk comes out..Is she about to have the pups soon?

I dont squeeze the milk out lol. I did that and once i saw milk I leave them alone lol. But her stomach is very hard..she was with the males for a couple of weeks since she was in heat..She didnt trust anyone or anything..never been on a leash or anything so I had to gain her trust before I could get her in the basement..She has toys down there, her food, water, welping box we made and she has bedding laid down and hay to make her "nest" with also old towels incase she wants them too.

I think our neighbor abused her..him and his family have two small breed dogs they keep inside..the other night I had to call the cops on him because he was outside with one of the dogs kicking it, beating it, dragging it, and yelling at it..You could hear the poor thing crying..I went over there and took the dog away and called the cops..I dont know what they told him or did to him but they took the dog that I took to the shelter to be looked at

Have you any idea of the date on which they mated? Your female will whelp about 63 days from the day she mated.
Just keep an eye on her now because she will start digging herself a nest somewhere a few days before she gives birth.
Give her plenty of shredded newspapers in her sleeping quarters and some old towels. She will become very restless and start panting very heavily towards the birth. When the puppies are ready to be born she will have contractions and give little grunts every now and then when she is bearing down.
Let your Vet know that she has gone into labour and if you have any concerns give him/her a call and he can talk you through it.
Just stand back when she is giving birth. She will do everything herself but just make sure if she doesn't react immediately with her first born by cutting the umbilical cord with her teeth and breaking the membrane from around the puppy's face you must be prepared to act quickly and do this yourself with clean sterilised surgical scissors ,gently tearing away the membrane around the face and make sure the pup is breathing. The membrane is very like clingfilm and is easy to tear away frm the puppies face. Clear the mucous from inside the puppy's mouth with your finger (wear surgical gloves if you can) They usually give a little cry and it's usually when the Dam hears this that her maternal instinct steps in and she will do everything herself after that. Just make sue you get the pups locked on to her teats so they can start suckling straight away.
Do keep the Mum and her puppies in a warm environment.
Puppies need warmth. You must keep a watchful eye on them day and night just in case the Mother lies on one and suffocates it. I always sleep in the same room as my Female and her pups for three weeks until I am sure they can get themselves out of any awkward situations. Once they start to wriggle around they can get behind the Mother's back and then they are unable to get themselves out without your help.
The Dam will take care of all their needs, i.e. feeding them and cleaning them until they are weaned so do make sure you are giving her plenty to eat, 5 meals per day, so that she can give her puppies all the nourishment they need. I would recommend giving her a good quality puppy food and then wean the puppies on to the same food when they are about 3/4 weeks old. Make sure she has plenty of water to help with her milk production but don't under any circumstances give her Cow's milk as this can cause diarrhoea in the pups.
Your Vet will advise you on a worming programme but I always worm my puppies when they are two and a half weeks old and every two weeks until they go to their new owners. Worm the Dam 1 week after the pups each time as she can ingest any worms the pups may pass when she cleans up after them.
I hope this bit of information will be of some help to you and wish you luck with the litter.

How long ago was she loose with the males? The gestation for dogs is about 9 weeks.
When she is ready to have them, she will act very antsy and pant a lot. She'll be less interested in food too. Her belly will feel harder than usual, and you will be able to feel the puppies moving around quite a bit.

the only thank you to accuratly take a dogs's temp is with a rectal thermometer. in case you have a controversy with doing that, then you definitely shouldnt have bred your dogs.. you obtain extra disgusting issues to anticipate than sticking a thermometer up her butt. in case you "comprehend all approximately those issues" then why are you asking right here? for sure you dont comprehend. merely because of the fact she had a muddle as quickly as in the past would not make you an expert, nor does it make you accountable. merely because of the fact she's a "organic bread" doesnt mean she's a breeding high quality dogs the two, nor does it make you accountable.. and particular, you for sure DO choose a breeding mentor.

Start taking her temperature at least every 12 hours. When her temp falls below 99F pups will be on the way soon, within 12-24 hours.
Normal temp for a dog is about 101F, temps are taken rectally.

Yes, and you absolutely need to get the poor thing checked out by a vet or at a low cost clinic.
After she has the pups and they are weaned, make arrangements to get her spayed.
Good of you to take her in, now please take better care of her than your miserable neighbor did.
By the way, you need to get your males neutered, again, a low cost clinic like Petluv will do it reasonably, they will also vaccinate all your dogs cheaply. Call your local Humane Society for a reference to a low cost clinic.

It sounds like she will have them very soon, within a few days. Make sure she is very comfortable. Also take her to the vet to know when to prepare for the birth of the pups.

Take her to a vet for crying out loud! Not only can they TELL you a due date, you need to do an x-ray head count so you know how many pups are coming. If you don't, a pup could get stuck inside and you'd never know until she went septic and died. PLEASE get that poor thing to a vet now!!!
