Why are people allowed to have divorces and are allowed to remarry in America but..?

Gays and lesbians cant get married? Divorce and remarrying are all "sins". Why do people see gay and lesbians as a bigger sin? Love is love. As long as it is two adults that love each other why cant they get married?

Some people in America are so focused on what sins other people are committing that they're forgetting their own. It's also a matter of cultural acceptance: divorce and remarrying have been acceptable culturally for a while now, while being gay or lesbian has only begun to be accepted by our culture. And I agree that two adults who love each other should be allowed to get married!

To me divorce is a sin and most likely in Jesus's eyes. He did say in the Gospel of Matthew if a couple divorces and remarries is the same as adultery. He never spoke of homosexuality. I don't understand why some of my fellow Christians seemed content with tolerating divorce but if they hear 'gay marriage' they freak out.

Is this a religious question or a secular one?
In a secular world, your view would make total sense. And America, although based on certain Christian principles, has a secular government and does allow gay marriage in some states.
But from a religious viewpoint (at least a Christian one) homosexuality has been declared by God to be an abomination and those practicing it deserving of death. I did not make up the rule, God did. But a humanist will say I'm an intolerant homophobic bigot because I agree with God. I refuse to apologize for agreeing with God. I don't hate gay people, and I don't want to kill them or see them killed (unlike some zealots) But I don't appreciate them throwing their sin in my face. If an alcoholic went around bragging that he was an alcoholic and proud of it people would think he was nuts. If a pedophile started bragging about all the ten year old kids he had "loved" they would lock him up and he would be raped daily the rest of his life by others in prison. Why is there a different standard for homosexuals?

7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

Homosexuality is grievous sin also! God destroyed 4 cities that engaged in homosexuality--Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboim.

We are very near the end of the world and as you have already stated, these sins are now accepted as "usual."

I think is mostly because people want to see gay people sad. It is the gays fault too. If they hadn't call there group gay (gay use to mean happy) then people wouldn't be jealous and wouldn't want to make them feel bad. I think the first thing gays can do to improve the image is change their name to the "sads".

Do you mean America is the only country in the whole world doesn't permit gay marriages!!! How about the Middle East! I believe the only one in the Middle East is Israel that have legal gay and Lesbian marriage.

FYI, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Jersey, California, New Hampshire, Maine, Hawaii, District of Columbia, Oregon, and Washington Have legal unions for same sex couples.

Love is love! Can we have some Love over to this side. I am all ready for it. I am tired of being judge because of where I live, and my religion, and at the same time the same people who judge ask, tell us we shouldn't judge others base on their faith. I feel like a pin cushion.

And yet they aren't trying to ban Vegas wedding chapels or Brittany Spears 72 hour marriages. Hell, I can get married to someone I do not even love and just want the tax benefits and not have kids as long as the other person is a woman.

Because marriage is 1 man + 1 woman. In the Bible, it is portrayed no other way. "For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife". Also think about it logically. A man and woman are totally made for each other. It's like 2 puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly. I not gonna be explicit, but I think you get the idea. Besides one of the reasons for sex is procreation. Can't be done with a man plus a man or woman with a woman. "If two people love each other" i believe is waht you said... Is it love? or LUST? If it turns the natural things of God into perversion, then love is not behind it.
