See your usual doctor and talk with them about medicine for neuralgia.
They may put you on something like Amitriptylene or Carbamazepine for bad pains that are not responding to usual pain relief medications.

Medical treatment is often very effective in controlling pain symptoms. In fact, the anti-seizure drug carbamazepine is so effective initially that the lack of response often calls into question the accuracy of the diagnosis.
For persons with continued pain after medical therapy, surgical options may be considered. These procedures have variable risks but may be very effective

After months of taking carbamazepine, my pain finally went away. I asked my Neurologist if I should stop taking my medicine. He said that since I was taking such a low dosage (600 MG per day) , I should continue to take my medicine. He said if I quit taking my medicine and the pain returned, the carbamazepine at 600 MG per day might not control my pain.
