Certainly, I know their are scholarly and academic answers to this question.

However, I am always looking for new insight. Thanks.

It is the difference betweent "taking" a picture and "creating" a picture.

This is why some amateurs fail. They think that taking picture that are more than just snapshots they are creating art. Simply capturing a picture of a pretty thing without intropsection or a point of view is just mundane.
The next step is wheter or not it is good art, But that is a whole differrent topic, one that I could write paragraphs on.

My other answer to a prior question of yours should provide a clue. A "snapshot" is typically a random kind of thing----vacation, holiday, graduation, the beach, whatever. It's for fun, as a memento for a scrap book. "Fine art" is a conscious, intelligent, literate (in a photographic sense) composition/creation.

So the former is generally mindless (if pleasing) and the latter is the result of conscious effort, at the very least.

Two wholly different things, don't you think?

Snapshots are usually headshots or justa regular bodyshot, nothing to spectacular about it. Fine Art is usually a painting or something historical or important to the painter/artist. It can also be a scenary of the earth or of ancient times. Fine art is taken very seriously and Snapshots are usually used on go-sees for the modeling industry

You can usually tell the difference. A snapshot would be casual, something taken of family & friends...of a tourist attraction etc. Fine art is something taken very intentionally in most cases, although some things are impromptu too, I guess it's a matter of perspective.

There are entire university courses that deal with this, so I would be amazed if anyone can efficiently sum it up here. I recommend you take a photography class. There is definitely a difference.

I know my photos are art, as I am the artist and always do a great composition with my photos! Regular photos are just that- regular and dull and have no composition or artistic flair in them.
