Tact is not a waste of time it is often the only way of pointing out the error of someones ways. It is not political correctness that is a waste of time effort and is self deceiving.
I am one of the more tactless people you will meet and I tend to say it how I see it usually at the wrong time as well so I am often told I am being nasty. If I could think of a tactful way of saying it I would but I can not. At least it is an attempt to be honest and not done as way of getting my own back for some real or imagined slight

I have a very dear friend who is tactless at the best and worst of times and it does get annoying as there sometimes isnt any need to be that blunt about something....
I remember when I first had my baby and when it cried she simply said 'cant you just get it to shut up?'.....that upset me alot...even though I know she isnt a great lover of children/babies....there was no need to say that
At other times she has been tactless and said things that have caused upset among our more sensitive friends
I therefore believe that having a little tact can be fair and just in almost any situation, I myself try and be tactful so as not to hurt peoples feelings on purpose...dont get me wrong...I can be blunt too...when the moment calls for it...but I wouldnt just leave out any tact for the sake of saving time

I wouldn't say blessing, but I think is is classy to use tact. Otherwise you seem like a know-it-all who could care less about others feelings as long as you get your blunt opinions across...

Tact is getting your message over in a sneaky way, behind the bush so to speak. Or in the other room making sure he is listening.

I think it is a blessing, people often say they 'speak their mind' as an excuse for being rude. You can be honest and still be tactful...why cause unnecessary upset.
