O.k., being that I am one of those people who was hit when I was a child and I'm not one of those people who became emotionally scarred behind the issue I'm going to give you a different answer than the two you've previously received.

Now here is my answer. If he just walked up to you and punched, pushed, slapped, smacked just because he felt like it then no it isn't right. If your mother didn't give him permission to discipline you then once again the answer is no, but in this day and age children do not listen to anyone be it their parents or anyone else. When I was told to do something and I got out of line and just didn't listen I knew that the consequences where my dad was going to whip me. Now when I was a child of course I was against it, but as an adult I appreciate every whipping along with reasoning I received. Why, hell my brother stopped receiving spankings when he was like 8 and he has been in jail every since he was 19 and he just made 30 this year..... but sorry if I got off of the subject a bit.

No because it is not a loving or helpful way to deal with problems and the step dad even if he was there from the beginning of the childs life should be a friend and a loving father figure not a an angry power hungry spanker.

Step dads has no right putting their hands on step children. Step dads are not the real parent and should learn to build positive communication with their step children. Communication is more of a positive approach to building great relationships than corpal punishment.

what did u do to make him hit u? If u were doing something to make him respond that way then it is OK. But i still think that a step dad is not your real blood family and you should talk to someone else about that serious issue instead of complete strangers on yahoo! =D wish u best of luck(if it gets to far report to a adult immediately)

No, its not the same if a biological father hits you. A stepfather hitting you for no reason is abusive. Thats like a stranger hitting you.

and there is supose to be a difference between step and real dads on this? Unless you are doing physical stuff to provoke such then it is not ok. You know if you are doing something to cause such and if not it is no way ok. talk to someone at school or church about it.

I'm a social worker for child protection. If you call your local agency and talk to someone they can help your mother and stepfather find better ways of dealing with you and solving problems.
You have a right to feel safe, and your mother has a legal obligation to protect you from harm.
It might not fit the criteria for physical abuse, but it might, and either way there is help for you and your parents.

absolutely not!!

my stepdad used to hit me and was very abusive for a long time.. i managed to get out.. thankfully.. i want you to do the same!!
dont ever put up with abuse, from anyone.. its not right and if the beatings are serious, start logging things in a notebook/diary.... after a while, give it to someone who will stick up for you an believe you, rather than someone who will brush it under the rug.. you need support... email me anytime for advice or whatever....

Depends... are you talking abuse? Or are you talkin, the kid being an smart mouth lil brat thats needs a smack? I have two step children that I would never hit unless they ever raised their hand towards their mother or got extremely ut of line.
