by the way, i do not support mormonism in any way. i think most of the ideas are ridiculous and crazy. if JESUS CHRIST died for your sins and is the ONLY way to heaven (john 14:6 I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. NO ONE comes to the father except through ME) how can one even begin to believe that they can enter heaven through someone else?

You have misstated Mormon belief. We believe that marriage is essential for the spiritual progress of both men and women. However, those men and women who do not have the opportunity to marry in this life (for whatever reason) can certainly still get into heaven. In 1996, Elder Dallin H. Oaks, one of the worldwide leaders of the Mormon Church, stated: "Through the merciful plan of our Father in Heaven, persons who desire to do what is right but through no fault of their own are unable to have an eternal marriage in mortal life will have an opportunity to qualify for eternal life in a period following mortality, if they keep the commandments of God and are true to their baptismal and other covenants."

No, it isn't true. I have been a Mormon for 14 years and I have never heard this. I have only had a husband for the last 2 years, so what would have happened if I'd died without getting married? Or what if I were to die before him? I think this is probably one of those urban myths which has sprung up from misunderstanding something else.

You said "JESUS CHRIST died for your sins and is the ONLY way to heaven (john 14:6 I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. NO ONE comes to the father except through ME)" We believe this too! Jesus is our saviour and we know that we have to repent and have faith in Him in order to be saved. There is no other way to heaven - not works, not church attendance, not other religions, not your husband. Just Jesus. He is the only way.

I have been through the Temple, and Diana is wrong. You don't have to be led through the veil by your husband at all. I didn't have a husband when I went to the Temple first.

And the book "Mormon Doctrine" isn't Mormon doctrine! Mormon doctrine has to be approved by the membership of the church at general conference. Elder McConkie was advised by the Brethren not to publish the book as it contained too many of his own opinions and theories.

Getting into heaven requires more than a marriage and the same standards are held for men as for women. Getting into heaven is an individual thing. Just because I'm married in the temple for time and all eternity doesn't mean both my husband and I will make it there. Also, we believe in the three degrees of glory. There are three levels of heaven. The Celestial, which is the highest, is also divided into three levels. Only married people will be allowed in the highest level. I have never heard that arguing with my husband is like arguing with God. My husband is not perfect like God is. Sometimes arguing is a form of communication we use to resolve a situation. If you don't agree on something, that's arguing. I also don't know of any doctrine that says I will have to bear my husband's spirit children for eternity. And divorced or single Mormon women can be saved, just as divorced and single Mormon men can, as long as they continue to grow in their faith, bear their trials and endure them, and do their best in keeping the commandments and living whole and pure lives. Any standard to which the Lord holds men, he also holds women, and vice versa. In those means, we are equal. The same is expected of us.

Most Mormons don't know their doctrines or history. The original teachings have frequently altered by "God's revelation" to the head (the Prophet) of the church. The interpretation and teaching of any doctrine appears to be up to the local "stake."
That a women can be a Morman for 14 years and not be aware of the basic tenant that women can only enter the highest heaven by being "sealed" in marriage shows how little is told to the general membership when they join. Currently, the most popular teaching is that both men and women need to be sealed in marriage to enter the highest heaven.
I doubt that it is any longer taught that the final goal of Mormonism is to become a god of another world...but it was being taught as late as the 1970's.

No, this is incorrect. You are right is saying that Jesus Christ is the truth, the way and that no one can go to Heaven except by Christ's atoning sacrifice. Christ is our Savior and Mormons do in fact believe this with the rest of the Christian world.

Mormons additionally believe that the God has granted mankind the ability to act in God's name by using the holy priesthood of God. We mortal men, if endowed with priesthood power, as mentioned by Amos in the Bible (see Hebrews 5:4) can use this priesthood to bless the lives of others. As Christ said to bring the sick and afflicted unto him, priesthood holders can bless those in need with priesthood blessings to help improve their lives.
Mormons use the priesthood to conduct sacred ordinances such as baptisms and marriages. And, it is believed by Mormons, that this same priesthood is used by Christ in the resurrection.
It does not mean that a man calls his wife up out of the grave and resurrects her. That is a falsehood. It does mean that a priesthood holding husband can be with his wife in the first resurrection, and be with her as a married couple for eternity. Mormons believe that marriages performed by the power of the priesthood in a holy temple are eternal and last beyond the grave.

I'm mormon, and have been for my entire life, but I've never heard of that. I don't think that is true. Should who a woman who never got married be forbidden from entering heaven? I don't think so. I for one would be very upset if Oprah got kicked out just because she never got married...

EDIT:
You are right about the scripture you mentioned. We too believe that Christ is the only way to get to heaven, and that salvation and forgiveness come from him.

No. As long as she is a faithful person, and follows all of God's commandments, she will go to heaven. A husband isn't necessarily going to do anything for you. What about those women who never found a husband in this life? Or who's husbands were horrible to them? Should they be left out just because of someone else's choices? God doesn't think so. Each circumstance is individual, and God will decide what will happen when the time comes for them.

*EDIT**

Dianna AM- You are an ex mormon. You must not understand the concept that well. I have actually asked a lot of questions about this and have learned a lot about this. God isn't going to keep someone out of heaven because they don't have a spouse. As long as they are a FAITHFUL person, and follow the covenants they made with God, they are going to have the same opportunities that the rest of us have.

We dont believe that. Seriously people, you need to start looking things up on your own. Go to www.LDS.org if you want to know what we believe. We know that it's through Christ that we are able to enter Heaven.

No.

and we don't believe we came to earth by a space ship either. Someone is getting scientology and our religion mixed together. Also, we don't believe we will receive our own planets nor will we have sex continually as was said. It's funny that D&C references were made but the actual verses were not written. Those verses do NOT say those things.

In order to enter the Celestrial Kingdom...The woman cannot enter without her husband and her husband cannot enter without his wife. And neither can enter unless they have been sealed for time and eternity in one of the Holy Temples by one holding the proper authority to marry them. This, as well as, living worthy of these blessings.

Now, what does it mean to live worthy of these blessings? It means to actually FOLLOW Christ. To Keep His commandments. To be faithful to God and our families.

God has contingencies for those who no fault of their own are unable to be seal to a spouse...so have no fear.

So, as you can see...we believe that in order to get to heaven it is only through Jesus Christ and the Atonement. The difference is...we actually know what that entails.
