French pronouns - Que or Qui?

Question

I am studying for my french final, and I still am having problems figuring out Que or Qui. I know Qui is for the subject, and Que is for direct pronouns but can anyone explain this differently for me? thank you.

voilà une suberbe voiture - je veux cette voiture at any price
Voilà la voiture de mes rêves - c'est celle QUE je veux
it is the one which I want

Voilà une femme superbe - je veux l'épouser
Voilà la femme rêvée - c'est celle QUE je veux épouser
she is the one WHOM I want to marry

Voilà le climat - il est caractéristique de ce pays
c'est le climat qui règne sur ce pays
the climate WHICH prevails in this country


Voilà le professeur - il m'a enseigné l'anglais en 2001
le professeur qui m'a enseigné
the teacher who taught me english

de qui and de quoi = from who and from what juste que and juste qui= until and until he/she it's basically the same thing only you use juste qui when talking about a person hope i helped :)

Qui is used when it refers to the person who does what the verb says (in english, who):
Le monsieur qui enseigne a l' ecole est le professeur
(The gentleman WHO teaches at school is the teacher)

Que is used when it refers to the object or person who is not acting, but is receiving the act mentioned by the verb (in english whom):
Le livre que je lis est tres interessant or
La fille que j' aime ets tres belle
(The girl WHOM I love is very beautiful)

If you are referring to the subject of your sentence (or phrase), then it's qui.
La dame qui joue au piano.... "the lady who plays the piano"
If you are referring to the object, then it's que.
La dame que je vois jouer au piano...."the lady whom I see playing the piano".

La fleur qui se trouve ici.
La fleur que je te présente.
Le chat qui saute.
Le chat que je caresse.

qui is used fo verbs and que is used for subjects; that's the easiest way to remember for me!

Think of it this way: Qui works in the same way as I, he, she, we, they
Que works in the same way as me, him, her, us, them

He washes his car every Sunday.
C'est celui qui lave sa voiture le dimanche.

The dog bit him.
C'est celui que le chien a mordu.

Strangely enough, you can also put:
C'est celui qu'a mordu le chien.

And it means the same.

ok, I'm a native french speaker but this is kinda hard to explain, we don't exactly learn that at school but here goes.

Qui = who
Qui veut du gâteaux? Who wants cake?

que = who, that, whom
La femme que j'aime...The woman that I love...
