My aunt lives there and she wants us to visit for a holiday, can anyone tell me if it's possible to enjoy a fortnight there, or should it be a week there and a week somewhere else.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hey there! Sounds like my dilemma. I am spending just over 2 weeks there to visit family. I think I would rather one week, but don't tell anyone. Prince Rupert has seen better days, the population and economy are way down from 10 years ago. My suggestion is to make sure that you get any shopping done you need BEFORE going. Not much to choose from there. AND if the economy is doing well, like it has improved slightly, means that you are likely to arrive to well picked over shelves.

SOO, I am not sure what else you might be looking for. Depends on where you are coming from, what you normally do, what your lifestyle is. The bars are likely to be packed weekends, and empty most other days. There are a lot of College kids that head home for the holidays, as well as some extras like you and me visiting family, and surrounding remote areas in shopping, so things are actually hoping more than usual. That actually can be a pain, you will have a lineup all night one night, and then be the only one in the bar the next night. Like most small places, the bars tend to get busy pretty late. But like I said, sort of unpredictable.

Expect the weather to bring anything. But pack for rain.

I can answer more and more specific. Feel free to email me.

Edit: Oh, I thought this was a Christmas trip. Sounds like something still in the planning stages. It is a tough balance. How long might you be able to do things with your Aunt? And maybe she can travel a bit around BC with you anyway. But in general, if you are coming all that way, you should try to see as much of BC as possible. I suspect you are probably flying in via Vancouver, so some time in Vancouver and Victoria is a good idea.

It's a small town, with rapidly developing industry in the new port area. We saw deer in the town centre and the trees by the water are covered in twittering bald eagles.

We love Prince Rupert but the younger people that we have met there have said that there wasn't so much for them.

It's a great centre for the islands but the best thing we did from there was take the Alaska Ferry to Skagway, then the train and bus over to Whitehorse in the Canadian Yukon, and back. It's the most spectacular journey that I have ever done.

Can't wait to go back. Enjoy.

I've never been to Prince Rupert, but I do live in BC.
It rains more there, than in Vancouver, and we all know how much rain Van gets
