This is to those people who answered my last post.

Tell me now, you who call God sadistic, evil, hate-filled and the like, why it is that you say those things.

How is God hateful?

What possesses you to view God in that way?

What's wrong with being monotheistic?

Johnatpl..., God hates the sin, not the sinner.

Lynus,
The flood was because the whole earth was filled with violence, and they would not stop. Read it.
The commands to the Israelites to kill entire peoples were because they were laws of war to defend themselves, not laws of murder. Murder is different than defending. Again, read it.
He didn't divide them because they were trying to reach him. I assume you mean the forty years in the wilderness. He did that because they AGAIN doubted him after He had parted the Red Sea and everything.
As for the everlasting torment thing, do you not think that God is smart enough to differentiate between good and evil? If a person never had the chance, such as Native Americans, do you think He will send them to hell? I don't think so. Hell is for those who willingly reject God.

MEISSEN9, GOD DID NOT CREATE EVIL. EVIL OR SIN IS DEFINED AS DISOBEYING GOD.
WHAT HE DID DO IS CREATE US WITH A FREE-WILL. THEREFORE, WE ARE THE ONES WHO "CREATED EVIL" IN YOUR SENSE OF THE TERM, THOUGH EVIL IS NOT A THING THAT CAN BE CREATED. ALL IT IS IS DISOBEDIENCE.

Auntb93, that Lord Lord verse, if you'll read it again, talks about hypocrites. I can say, "Lord I love you" all day long, but if I don't mean it and go live like the devil the rest of the week, my words are false.

God creatred peace and love

the devil created strife, and commanded some of Gods angels the watchers to go and sleep with women

they created the nephilim, giants and mighty men, who were not subject to the curse of Adam, therefore they would not die like men do. These half demon half human creatures, then commited such attrocities, that God said they can not be on this earth any more, and so created a world wide flood

the evidnece of this the seas and the oceans remind us of what God did,

he first gave them a mercy token, of to stop sinning and get aboard the ark

this was open to the nephilim, and noah was given 120 years to preach this message

no one listened

When Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, it was against a race of people who were so tall and big that Josdhua's scouts said we were like grasshoppers to them

The nephilim had returned. God said he would not flood the world again, so ordered Joshua to kill every last one

Joshua did noty complete the task , and you would not be surprised as to get an atlas and work out the lands of nephilim in yester year and compare it to the lands of trouble and strife surrounding Israel today

peace in Christ

Um, perhaps that he killed every single living thing on the planet except what 8 people and some animals. That he commanded the Israelites to slaughter entire peoples, including children. That he purposely divided the people just because they were trying to reach him. That he will send me to everlasting torment just because I do not believe in him. That kids who are disrespectful, homosexuals, people who do work on the Sabbath, people who wear clothes of differing fabrics, all should be put to death. And do not give me that all this was Jewish law. That is like saying that Hitler should have been forgiven if he suddenly had a change of heart even after everything he had done.

Is that a good start?

So in order to do good we must do extraordinary evil? We must throw the baby out with the bath water and kill everything including all the animals and plants instead of God just simply poofing all the evil people out of existance. Yes, you will of course say that EVERYBODY was evil except Noah, his wife, and his sons and their wives. It is nice to just point to a book and just claim that it is true.

The Jews were not defending themselves they were in the middle of conquest. The Canaanites were there first and the Isrealites were trying to take their land. Not to mention that this was ancient warfare. It's not like they were using indiscriminate killers like bombs, they actually had to stab and slash everything they came across themselves. They could have left the children and animals alive. This was of course the promised land. Are you saying that the land that was promised by God couldn't sustain innocent people in addition to Jews?

I was talking about the Tower of Babel.

Yes I realize that you would say that he wouldn't send those who didn't hear about him to hell. But the fact still remains that you think that he will send those who do not to EVERLASTING torment. I do not believe anybody deserves a never ending punishment for a finite crime.

I remember a whole lot of bloodshed and cruelty in the Old Testament, and rather more than there should be in the New Testament. I'm not going to bother leafing through to find specific references, but there are plenty.

The very idea of a god who offers to burn anyone for eternity if they do not comply with his standards, or bow and whimper and beg for mercy, simply does not add up. If such a god existed, why would anyone worship him? Or as George Carlin puts it, "But he LOVES you!"

I do not believe that God is hateful because I do not believe he exists. But as a fictional character, I'd call him more villain than hero. Jesus could perhaps be labeled a hero, at least in comparison to his bloodthirsty "father," but he also said that he would reject those who called upon him if they didn't "measure up." (Not everyone who calls Lord, Lord . . .)

Did you not read the part about the flood? Did you not read the part about parting the Red Sea and killing all the soldiers? Did you not read the jealous god parts? Did you not read the part where your god claimed it created everything and that includes evil?

Riot: The irony of you calling someone else's attitude bad will be lost on you and that is sad.

Doesn't God hate? Are you suggesting God hates nothing? Or do you take the view that there is justifiable hatred and God only has good hatred.

God does hate...says so in the Bible...and not for the reasons the other numbskulls who answered...He hates idolatry, blasphemy against Him, worshippers of any but Him, all material things humans hold dear, and any who have persecuted the children of Israel...
