I'm confused, I just recently noticed this...Women say that want to be treated equally, but then they also want to be treated like a lady? I don't get it. They'll complain about how it's not fair that men underestimate them just because they're a woman, but then they expect us to put the toilet seat down for them, open doors for them, and be extra nice to them. I'm not saying I want to hit women, but they talk about how they are just as tough as men, but if a man attempted to hit a woman they'd freak out and say "you can't hit a woman". I dont get it...

I was jsut using the toilet seat thing as an example. What I'm saying is, women want to be treated equal, so put the seat down yourself.
And the hitting thing, what I mean when I mention that is for some reason, some women go around with the idea that they can hit guys, but it would be wrong for a guy to hit them back. I don't mean to come off as a prick, but if a girl is brave enough to hit me, than she can expect to ATLEAST get slapped back. It just bugs me when women get that idea.

Of course not. Men and women can never be equal no matter how much feminism takes over our modern society. My thoughts on women 1) women are extremely intuitive and emotionally intelligent. 2) women can use their sex to their advantage, but end up becoming a company whore as a result and never get any respect. I think a study was done where women who DONT use sex appeal in a work place often get ahead and with more respect 3) women can be extremely hard working and can surely manage to have jobs that men ahve, except for playing linebacker for a professional football team. That is just absurd. MEN 1) Are the bread winners 2) Simply want to do good work and get ahead in their careers. That's what men are born to do, to accomplish and become achievers. They have much more pressure on them to succeed than women do. that's why you see more boys dropping out of high school and than women. 3) Most good, honest, hard working men would never mind being under an intelligent woman who understands the work they do. BUT there are always sleaze balls who make other good men look bad. 4) MOST Strip clubs and bars are NOT one of those places where women workers will ever be treated with dignity and respect.

Take my word for it, there are certainly double standards. One time my daughters were watching TV and a woman was having a hissy fit and pounding on this guy with her fists. Whalloping the crap out of him. The girls were laughing and though that was funny. The poor guy on TV finally had enough and slapped the woman once and immediately the girls stopped laughing, suddenly it wasn't so funny anymore. They were too young to understand women's rights, equality and all that stuff, but even at their young age the double standard was set. To this day I have no idea how it came about.
Yes young man, like it or not, women want to be equal when it is to their advantage but not when it is to their disadvantage. Don't get me wrong, I believe in equality, I treat women like a lady and I've never, ever struck a woman. You might as well learn the way it really is now instead of later. One thing else you better learn, when it comes to equality and fairness, white males have fewer rights than anyone else in this country. Females and people of color can say and do things and get by with it because they're considered a minority. If white guys do the same thing, we're being discriminitory. Agree with me or not, I'm not exaggerating that's the way it really is.

I think you're being too literal with the whole "tough as men" comment. Face it, most women are not as physically strong as men, hence the no hitting. Strength comes in many forms, such as emotional and mental. As for the rest...putting the toilet seat down and opening doors is just a courtesy, and you should only be extra nice to people who deserve it, man or woman.

I think you are generalizing. Many of the women who say they wish to be treated equally are not the same women who want to be treated 'like a lady'.
Some women want some things, other women want others. Just like it is with everyone else.

You're talking about feminists.
Here's the solution, treat non-feminists like ladies, but feminists like men. Exactly equal to men. No different, with absolute total equality.
But, do NOT ever date a feminist, unless you want a life of misery. Find a nice lady who doesn't drone on and on about equality and/or complain about how women are treated, but who does expect fairness, respect, and courtesy.
If a woman's message is confusing and contradictory in casual dealings, imagine the misery of living with her. Run far and fast.

I agree... They are not as tough as a guy and never will be.
I was there when women asked for equal pay..... but their work was not equal. at least not in anything physical....Women can excel in many things and even beat a man but physically I think they should be shunned from working in many places because they do not have the strength to compete.... Yet somehow they have convinced people they should get the same pay as a man....
I worked in a bakery and the bags of flower I handled were 100 pound bags. I asked the boss can you please order the 75 pound bags again. he said no they are not available any longer. So the 100 pound bags kept coming and I kept handling that but I told the boss once again I do not think this is a good idea for a woman 5 ft. tall. so he gave me a man to pour the flower into the mixing bowl.. No money was taken from me. Sure it was good for me but what about making a fool out of the guy I married.... Bologna women are limited.

You can learn a lot from the early works of howard fine and howard on the fine points of the women's sufferage period.
Follow up with some early William Gaines and his Worry Free therapy that prevails to this day, and the H Hefner Phd Proram of female self realization.
Remember waht an importan character of Dr CM Shultz , Brown MD said "Never hit girls just shove them"
In my considered opinion the next time you remove your head fro your colon to play X Box. Stpo trying to talk to women on e harmony and meet up with some outside your parents basement.

I think that even the most hard core feminist knows in her heart that women enjoy and want that double standard. It isn't the females' fault, either that they get it in so many cases, it is the fault of men enabling that double standard to thrive. I'm all for ERA, and equal rights in all areas, and equity as well. I'm fortunate to know some females who treat others as equals and expect only that in return.
The "sex card" will always be played, however, so get used to it, or develop friendships with women who are "different", there are a few.

I don't think anyone should ever hit anyone under any circumstances. When a woman says she wants to be treated equally it doesn't mean she wants men to treat her like a man. It simply means she wants the same opportunities as men in the work place. As a woman who knows quite a bit about cars, I hate going into Advance and being treated like a little ignorant woman buying a car part.
As for the toilet seat, I take you have never gotten up at 2am to pee, half asleep and fell in the toilet. And for opening doors, I always hold the door for anyone who is coming in behind me or has their arms full.
Women want a man that is thoughtful and caring. Chivalry does not need to be dead and asking for the same opportunities does not make us have double standards.
Blacks fought for equal rights in this country not because they wanted to be white but because they were deserving of the same opportunities as whites. Although not the same, it is similar. We want the same rights to prove we are capable of performing certain jobs and know more then just how to raise babies and get rid of soap scum. Some men treat women as if we are helpless, not very bright, and unable to accomplish certain things just because we're women.

You can be treated equally without giving up being feminine. "Tough" women who insist on driving big trucks (that they can't manuever and never haul anything in) are one of my pet peeves, because it's all a facade.
I believe in equal rights for women, like the right to vote and equal pay, but personally I prefer tradition - I want to stay at home with the babies and cook and have the door opened for me.
And as for the draft, like another answerer brought up, I don't believe in the draft for men, either. I don't want to be involved, but I don't want my sons, my husband, or my brother involved either. Anyone, for that matter. Women can join the military and fight next to men, but being forced into it is wrong, no matter what your sex.
And it never hurts to be polite to someone, female or not.
