Canada does not have nuclear weapons but it can make them. Most countries have the means to make nuclear weapons, and if Canada ever wanted them it could easily produce them itself (resources and expertise could be funnelled in from the US or the EU if necessary). However this is unlikely since it is a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Nuclear weapons are useless. You can not shot down a plane with an atomic bomb. Tanks are quite resilient to nuclear attack, and so on. The only thing you can do with nuclear weapons is to destroy the cities of the enemy and kill civilian population. The war will still be decided by conventional forces. Shall you win after a nuclear strike, you have destroyed what will be yours. Shall you loose, you will have to face the soldiers of the enemy, whose families you have killed.

The Canadian government thought about developing its own nuclear weapons in the 1950s, but finally decided against it.

In the 1960s the Canadian armed services borrowed American nuclear weapons for Air Force interceptors, Army rockets, surface-to-air missiles and Air Force tactical strike aircraft in Europe. A complicated system of command and control was developed so that Canadian and American officers would jointly have to "turn the keys" for them to be used in battle against the Russians

No Canada does not have nuclear weapons but they are closely linked to the United States nuclear weapons program Manhattan Engineer District or MED which was signed in 1943 in Quebec, the Canadians contributed scientists to the program, along with the UK, its an agreement between the United States, Canada and the UK. so yes Canada has the means.

Canada's military could probably not take Montreal, so it is doubtful.
They could just call on America; why not, every other country when it is in trouble calls on America
to save it. America spends 50% of its National Budget on warfare, over 500 military bases globally,
Canada probably spends 2% of its National wealth on welfare.
Remember...in D-Day...one beach was for Canadians, one beach was for English, and THREE of the five beaches had to be taken by Americans....
Canada is far, far too laid back to be consider a "player" in sort of warfare.

Canada has the luxury of being able to rely on other nations for a viable nuclear deterrence.

They definitely have the technological capability to make whatever devices they might someday need, but as a society they prefer to sit back and criticise the actions of those nations who have actually deployed such weapons in a continuingly dangerous world.

A country that disbanded their finest infantry regiment because someone put a cigarette in a corpse's mouth and took a picture isn't likely to go nuclear-rogue any time soon.
