I belong in this tight-knit social group where everybody knows everyone else. I've been active in it for 20 yrs, held leadership roles, and have a good handful of friends. In a way, I've been one of the more well-known members for speaking out, volunteering, that type of thing.
But I find that it has been difficult making new friends, especially those my age and oddly enough with the females. I've never been in any popular group, but I'm friends with nice people, I think. However a few girls have trashed about me in the past or spread gossip about me.. about my race, my beliefs or my looks... which I have learned to deal with. But I don't understand.. it shouldn't be hard to make new friends, right? So why is it hard to make friends, especially with girls?

I have a difficult time making friends especially with other women. It is hard to make friends with people because I think everyone in society today are very leary of others and what their intentions could be. You have to be able to trust someone to call them a friend and that isn't an easy thing to do anymore for a lot of people. As for females, of the friends I do have 90% are men. I don't make friends with females easily because that are more superficial about things, they tend to do as you said spread gossip, be two-faced, backstabbing, manipulative, and most of the time DRAMA. I think women spend too much time bashing each other to make friends. Not all women are like that but for the most part a majority are.

Women can be very mean sometimes. If you are not part of their "group" they are not interested. Your best bet is to look for other women that are also being excluded from groups.
Just because they are being left out does not make them undesirable as friends. You may miss out on great friendships by not looking at a person for who they are, not who they hang out with.
To do this you must take the time to meet these people. You may not like them and if so, nothing lost but...... you may find a fantastic friend! You need to devote at least half your "Friend" time to meeting new people away from your safe zone of your "Group"

There is a lot of competition, they are trying to be better than you. I worked with mostly women in my job training job and they would be trashing each other constantly. and they could work with the women they trashed like nothing was ever said.I don't know why, there was never a good reason for it. That may be Hillary's downfall. When ever a woman is elected more men percentage wise , voted for the woman , that women did. it's slowly changing though.

Yeah, I have a hard time making new friends too. Whenever your around your friends, act like your having a great time (although I don't think you need to act) so everyone else will want to be your friend, too. Hope I helped!! Good Luck!!

gurls tend to be a real big meanie
and they just tend to be drama queens
those gurls are just trying to be more and more popular
but one thing they dont know is that they are not cool for trash talking and that they are just plainly a jerk
ppl like u are the ones that r really cool

Good question,and i sometimes always ask myself the same.
All i can tell you is that women can be too messy and full of drama also jealous of one another,so thats probably why its hard for us to be friends.

it depends in what grade your in and how old you are if your in 5th grade or up then you have to be really popular to make easy friends thats all.

i shouldn't worry.... i make friends with girls easier than guys, to be honest be satisfied with what you have and value your friends.
