Sly Stalone is the biggest coward since cassius clay and was in Switzerland coaching a girls volleyball team during the Viet Nam war. He should be ashamed to have made part of his fortune playing a Viet Nam vet when he did not have the guts to go himself.

upthecrek: I have a right to my opinion and earned that right pal. Sly does not have the right to make money by using the blood of 59,000 killed in action vets to make money. Sly is a low life.

jack: John Wayne was 32 years old when ww11 began and yes their is some question about his service or lack of but I think most vets give him a pass. John Wayne did more for the morale of soldiers in combat than say a Bill clinton or Jimmie Carter. Many of us who were drafted and went to Viet nam I think garnered a inner strength by remembering some of the old John Wayne war movies be it right or wrong. John Wayne loved America and that more than I can say about the Hollywood elite who are doing everything they can to destroy in their hate America theme. I was 19 when I was drafted and went to Tigerland Fort Polk la and was in great physical condition and it nearly wasted me. I am not sure even John Wayne the citizen could have handled WW 11. Bill Clinton wrote a letter saying he loathed the US military and then became the Commander in Chief. Go figure.

kojak: I have a feeling you are no more Green Beret than Pee wee herman is a navy seal or you would not talk down to another vet as you have done. Sir I believe you are a phoney or possibly a REMF in Nam. If you were an actual vet who served as a combat infantryman you would not be so forgiving of those who ran out on their country going to Canada or hiding from the Draft.

Sly is an actor-nothing more. He gave the public what they wanted cinema entertainment. Stallone is not the first actor to skip a war but play a hero. In any case that was his job acting and "Rambo" was a character in a film.

Have you served? Not everyone serves in the Military, so whats the big deal. Stalone played a part in a movie, so what he was making a living, do you work? You question make about as much sense as the ones I have asked about you it does not change a thing.
Vet-USAF
Never said you did not have the right to your own opinion, BUT in my opinion you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Where is the proof that he when over there to dodge the draft?

What's your point?
Most actors/politicians didn't go to the military or had a rather easy live while being there. If cassius clay went he could have easily spent his time in germany or somewhere else without ever being shot at, all that would have been needed was a call to some friends and voila easy living.

SO WHAT...... There were hundreds of thousands who did not go to Vietnam..... many who hid in the closet and later profitted by their choice
Your attitude is just as biggotted and wrong as those who called us "babykillers". We were not babykillers and Stallone may not have not been a coward... but even if he was....SO WHAT
Steven Segal never served.....and is wearing a 5th Group patch and beret in a movie.....over half of Hollywood did not or would not have serve if given that option..... if you boycott all who did not pay their dues.....your entertainment will be pretty much limited to playing with yourself.
Get on with your life.....

That's new information to me. Do you know if he specifically went over there to dodge thew war? If that's the case then yes he should be ashamed of himself.

Stallone would have flunked his physical had he taken one for the armed forces. He's a body builder. Those guys excrete protein in their urine. Although it isn't life-threatening, it is disqualifying for entry into the armed forces.
