usually after it has run for awhile this problem rears it's head. almost always when i come to stop at a light or after i stop (for gas) and restart engine it is more likely to happen. i know it is a sensor because i replaced fuel pump. fuel pump was going bad as it turned out (no fuel pressure or not up to spec) so i replaced it.
I need to know who knows this problem and / or anyone who had the same problem and fixed it. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), crank and cam position sensors, any ideas? it sometimes happens at crusing speed on highway so no way to predict conditions that occur to cause the engine shutdown.
I dont have enough $ to replace all the sensors and / or the EMT computer (unless you know that is what it is).
Email me at rrb6699@yahoo.com
thanks
Ray

you either have a bad coil or an ignition switch ,and there's really no way to monitor a coil or the switch, but with a bad switch you can re-start it almost immediately, with bad coil it has to cool off some, this is one way to narrow it down, ignition switch's did cause a lot of problems with those trucks, there's no absolute way to diagnose it unless it actually stops running and doesn't start back, its an electrical problem and they can be hard to narrow down, having hr computer scanned might help on finding this, good luck on it.

Had a Dakota at work with the V6, the throttle position sensor conked out. Would run ok when cold but after it warmed up, it would sometimes die when put into drive or reverse or given the gas. Not sayin that's the problem, but I'd sure check it.
